Jun 27/28 All Ireland Juveniles
This was another busy weekend in Tullamore for two days of Track and Field with the u13-u19 juvenile All-Ireland finals. For Kate Maher it was a big result in the 400m final to achieve the European U18 standard. All we now is selection to go her way. Victor Lamph also had some cheer with gold in his 400m.

Under 13 – Daniel Quinn 5th Javelin (25.58PB); Conor Laurence Delaney 3rd High jump (1.45); Daniel McIntyre 6th 60m hurdles (10.31).
Under 14 – Ellen Ryan 11th 75m hurdles (12.78).
Under 15 – Daniel Greene 3rd 800m (2.10.80).
Under 16 – Kelly Charters 7th 80m hurdles (12.90), 10th high jump (1.40); Fiach Crowley 13th 100m (12.07); Jasmine Timons McEneaney 2nd 100m (12.26); Ella Sorohan 9th 100m (12.55); Jack O’Neill 4th Hammer (36.74), 12th Discus (24.70); Landon Ryan 9th Hammer (27.25); Mia Brennan 9th 80m hurdles (13.00).
Under 17 – Ellen Daly 2nd 100m (12.17); Sinead Cormack 4th 3000m (10.38.57); Eoghan O’Farrell 6th 400m (52.46); ~atrick Wall 3rd 400m (51.74).
Under 18 – Kate Maher 1st 400m (55.70); Victor Lamph 1st 400m (49.93); Kyrell Mtinsi 9th 800m (2.03.06).
Under 19 – Conor Ryan 11th 800m (2.07.21).
Jun 21 U11/12 Nationals
Our under 11 girls gave a good account of themselves in the final of the national relays in Tullamore today. In a competitiion f 16 teams they placed 5th. Team – Holly Quinn, Mayar Elfaedy, Molly Costello, Ava Ledingham and Amenze Victor. Amenze and Florence O’Donoghue were in the final of the 60m PAIRS. Their combined time for the event was 18.99 seconds.
Roisin Hyland took part in the under 12 high jump and placed 5th with a clearance of 1.25. Well done girls.
Jun 21 Irish Runner/National 5 Mile
The national 5 mile road race in the Phoenix Park today brought out a large number of athletes. KCH had a number taking part. Two performing exceptionally well were Ger Forde and Jamie Gahan. Ger took the bronze medal in 24.48 and Jamie finished 5th in 25.27. Gill Kavanagh had a PB of 38.14 and Eamon Boland clocked 41.40.
Jun 21 Waterford Viking Marathon
The Waterford Viking Marathon is more than a marathon in that it includes a quarter marathon, a half marathon and a marathon. KCH members sampled all three on this occasion. Graham Bourne completed the marathon- Bridget Rochford and Statia O’Carroll did the quarter marathon- and quite a number went the half marathon route. Among those were Pat Purcell, Eddie Hawe, Martina McGrath, Orla McPhillips (1.29.39 PB), Matthew Warren (1.29.10 PB), Tomasz Jarzabek (1.31.10 PB), Trevor Spillane, Emma Ayres, Tara Ronan, Aoife Jarzabek, Laura O’Reilly,Paul Whelan and Mairead Bacon.
Jun 20 Tailteann Games
This year’s Tailteann Games were held in SETU, Carlow. Leinster placed second with two KCH athletes helping out. Victor Lamph was 2nd in 400m (48.99) and Patrick Wall came third in the 400 hurdles (57.82). Both were part of the 4×400 relay which placed 2nd. Both athletes will now be part of the Ireland team in the SIAB in Belfast on the 18th July.
Athletics Ireland held relay girls 4×100 and 4×400 relay trials for the world juniors. In the 4×400 the A team achieved the standard. Kate Maher ran on the B team. Ellen Daly was on the 4×100 team which unfortunately did not make the qualifying time.
Jun 17 B County Kilkenny
The mild weather this evening helped to add to the competition and the enjoyment at the county B’s hosted by Thomastown AC. In a more relaxed atmosphere than the A’s the athletes can mingle and develop friendships that help in motivating a love of the sport. This evenings results:-
Under 8 – Fionn Quinn 1/80, 1/300. Under 9 – Ruby foster 3/ 80, 3/Turbo Javelin;FeidhelmNorry 1/80, 1/300; Matthew Healy 1/80, 2/Turbo. Under 10 – Cara Walsh 2/80, 3/300; Peter Gleeson 3/80, 1/long jump; Olivia Foster 2/Turbo. 2nd in Girls relay.
Under 11 – Maise Victoe 1/80, Molly Costello 2/80, 1/300; Holly Quinn 3/80; Florence Donoghue 2/80; Harry Trayer 1/80, 1/300. Under 12 -Ethan Maher 2/80, 2/800; Eddie Kemple 2/long jump; Neal Walsh 1/long jump. Under 13 – Lily Power 3/long jump; Ellie Costelloe 2/80; Caoimhe Malone 2/walk; Cillian Maher 1/walk, 1/800, 3/80; Robbie Chandley 1/shot, 2/long jump, 3/800. 1st in mixed relay. Under 14 – Madeline Kemple 2/80; Brandon Maher 3/800.
