Another busy weekend – are they all busy these times!!
LEINSTER SCHOOLS
Our athletes made good showing in Santry on Saturday for the Minor and Junior Leinster Schools championships. In minor Ashling Phelan, Castlecomer Community School, won the 100m and Katie Byrne, St Mary’s New Ross, placed 7th in the 800m. Juniors – Ellen Daly, Loreto, won the 200m and was 2nd in the 75m hurdles. Sinead Cormack, Presentation was 2nd in the 1500m. Kara Canavan, Presentation was 4th in 200m. For the CBS, Robert Coogan finished 4th in his 1500m.
ASHLING MURPHY 4 MILE TULLAMORE
Andrew Smyth had a good run to finish in 22.04. Paul Bolger, Mike Cullen, Graine Behan and Caoilfhionn Ni hArgain all finished. Their respective times being 24.06, 24.21, 25.44 and 29.08.
IRISH RUNNER 5K PHOENIX PARK
Gerry Forde had a good run here to finish 6th in 14.55. John Kearns clocked 20.38.
STONEYFORD 10K & 5K
Dean Rowe led the road in the 10K to take first place in 35 .42. Among the others finishing were Michael O’Shaughnessy 41.52, Lorcan O’Toole 43.58, Sean O’hArgain 48.01, Jan Hazenberg, Paul Earley, Bregeen Murphy, Bridget Rochford and Jackie Varley.
Niamh Richardson competed in the 5K and placed first ( third overall) in 20.28. Juveniles James and Harry Healy also did the 5K finishing in 27.43 and 33.45 respectively.
