Feb 26 Another NIA Workout

Five of our athletes travelled to Abbotstown tonight to enjoy another workout on the indoor track. Daniel Greene had his usual sterling performance with a win in the 800m (2.17.25). Amelia O'Brien also had a good run in her 800m (2.31.18). Cathal O'Reilly had a clear victory in the senior 800m(1.53.00). Ella Wall and Grace Delahunty took on the 400m and finished strong. Their respective times were (1.02.68) and (1.06.30).

Our athletes gave a good account of themselves at the national senior indoor championships at the NIA in Dublin this weekend. Cliodhna Manning had three competitive races as she pursued success in the 400m. On Saturday she won her heat in 55.37. Later in the day she placed second in the semi-final in 54.02. Sunday's final brought her an indoor PB of 53.87 as she finished in 4th place. Pia Langton and Cathal O'Reilly had their 800m semi-finals on Saturday. Feb 16 Club Awards 2024

A capacity crowd turned out for the club's annual awards presentation which was held in The Pembroke Hotel. 2024 proved a very successful year for the club with some ninety athletes presented with awards. Club Chairman, Nicholas Dunphy, welcomed all to the ceremony and thanked the athletes for their dedication and achievements during the past year. He thanked  all the coaches, managers, club officers and the parents for their ongoing support of the athletes.  The citations were delivered by Sean Lynch while Club Registrar, May Hutt, assisted the chairman with the presentation. Feb 16 The Enniscorthy 10

KCH men were second team in this year's Enniscorthy 10K. Our contingent were led home by Dean Rowe in 9th place (35.03). Other finishers were 15 Padraig Ruane 35.29; 16 Eamon O'Connor 35.31; 24 Mike Cullen 36.51 PB; 48 David FitzGerald 39.00 PB; 50 Michael Murphy 39.19; 57 Claire Dermody 39.37 PB;79 Nuala FitzGibbon  41.50 and Grainne Behan 44.57.

Feb 15 Leinster Star Awards

KCH featured strongly in this year's Leinster Star Awards held in Carlow today. Ellen Daly received the County Kilkenny Award for  the best female juvenile in 2024 and Conor Knox received the award for best juvenile male. In addition KCH was judged the best club under 12-15. Rob Daly received the Mick Quinn Cup on behalf of the club.

Feb 14/15 Shay Stars in US

It was a special Valentines weekend for Shay McEvoy. Competing in the Tyson Invitational in Arkansas on Friday he had a PB when running the 3000m in 7.49.70. Then in less than 24 hours time he ran another sub 4 minute mile - 3.59.79. Maebh Richardson was in action in the Husky Classic in Washington where she ran a PB of 15.29.27 for the 5000m. Sister Grace Richardson was in Boston where she ran the 5000m in 16.14.

Feb 12 NIA Live

A small group of Harriers travelled to Abbotstown for tonight's NIA Live. Among them were U14 Ellen Ryan in the 60m (9.31); U16 Aisling Phelan 60m (7.92). Under 16 Boys where Eoghan O'Farrell clocked 7.87 to pip Patrick Wall on the line. Jamie Gahan finished 2nd in the mile in 4.32.55.

Feb 8/9 Variety is Spice of Athletics

This weekend produced news from a variety of quarters. First we had Relay news- Three of our juveniles selected for training on national relay panels viz. Alex Cullen 4x400 U20, Molly Daly 4x100 U20 and Cliodhna Manning 4x400 Senior.  Then it was the selection for the Celtic International in Leeds- Ruairi McEvoy and Callum Barron selected of the Irish U20 team. They ran and finished 24th and 26th respectively. Cathal O'Neill (U23) selected on the senior team where he finished 40th. Then it was the NIA where Cliodhna Manning and Kate Maher both guested at the National Indoors. Cliodhna clocked [...]

Feb 02 Pia Stateside

Pia Langton was in Boston over the bank holiday weekend. She was the sole Irish runner in the Junior Girls International mile at the New Balance Grand Prix. Pia finished in 5th place in 4.52.54.

Feb 02 Thirty at J Treacy 10M

Among the big turnout at the John Treacy 10 mile in Dungarvan were thirty KCH runners. A great run from Ger Forde brought him home in 50.35 into 4th place. Claire Dermody with a fine performance  was our second overall finisher in 1.06.16.
