May 22 National League Round 1

Round 1 of the National League was shared over two venues - Belfast and Templemore. KCH were in Templemore competing in Division 1 of the League. The team had thirteen athletes (Eleven KCH and guests Jordan Knight and Shane Power) competing in nineteen of the twentyone events - Hammer and Triple jump were the blanks. Jack Manning was the busiest with 1st place in 200m, 2nd in 100m and 6th in Discus. May 22 Day 3 Co Championships

Day 3 of the county Championships was Day 2 for the u11 - u19 athletes ans it was basically a repeat of day 1 only in different events. A total of 46 medals were won. U12 athlete Daire O'Flaherty was one to watch as he took gold in both the 200m and the 800m. There was a clean sweep for the boys under 17 in the 200m with Adam Slawinski 1st, Alex Cullen 2nd and Liam Thompson 3rd. A wet and windy evening greeted our young athletes , U8, u9 and U10, as they gathered at Scanlon Park for this their first taste of track and field competition. And they measured up very well bringing home 32  individual medals - 10 gold, 10 silver and 12 bronze. Under 8s Ted Duff and Lucy Maher were top performers each winning two golds - Ted  in 60m and 80m while Luch 's events were 60m and 200m. What a weekend this was. With Covid taking a bitof a back seat athletes were enjoyingthe freedom of competition at home and abroad.  BELFAST Three athletes took part in the Irish MilersClub events in Belfast. Jach Manning had 49.01 in the 400m. Cathal O'Reilly and Tom Lodge ran the 1500m with Cathal clocking 4.01.00 and Tom close in time at  4.02.00. Cathal O'Reilly and Tom Lodge ran in the 1500m at todays Irish milers Club meet in Dublin. Cathal 's time was 3.59.63, Tom's 4.02.98.

May 02 Day out in Monavea

A number of our younger athletes travelled to Monavea, Crettyard, Co Laois for the St Abban's Open track and field competition today. While enjoying the day out a number of them had medals to bring home. Included in that number are the following:- Gold medals - Kate Kelly in 300m U10. May 02 Mr Vitality in London

Eoin Everard gets around so for this event we give him the title Mr Vitality. The title is suggested both by the name of the race , Vitality London 10K, and Eoin's performance, 12th overall and 2nd only to Mo Farah in the Masters O/35 category and in a sub 30 time of 29.54. Well done Eoin.

Apr 30 Leinster Road

KCH had a small contingent at this year's Leinster road Races held in Gowran today. Caoilfhionn Ni Argain was our sole female competitor.She placed 28th in 12.55. We had a team in the Men's Novice with Eamon O'Connor, Trust Mtinsi, Paul Moran and Graham Bourne. Their respective places were 9th, 33rd, 35th and 36th. The team did well to finish in sixth place. Eamon's good run in 19.45 made him second finisher on the county team which won bronze. Well done all.

Aoibhe Richardson and Peter Lynch wereat the Payton Jordan Invitational in Stanford, California today. Aoibhe placed sixth in the 10,000m in 33.40.60 while Peter finished first in his 5,000m race in 13.43.52 a new PB. Well done folk.
