The county Intermediate cross-country was hosted by St Senans in Kilmacow today. KCH got good numbers out. Was it the offer of tea and biscuits or a chance to win the overall CC title for 2022? Whichever (or not) tea was had and the overall title was achieved. Thanks to all who made the effort to organise the troops and those who responded. The ladies with Orla McPhillips taking individual gold were first and fourth teams. The men were second and fifth teams. Placings:- Ladies - 1 Orla McPhillips, 4 Clare Dermody, 5 Caoimhe Foley, 7 Kate Millea, 12 Sheila [...]
Kyrell Mtinsi and Cathal Rossiter were our two representatives at the national Indoor Combined Events held in Athlone at the weekend. Both athletes finished 8th in their respective penthatlons, Kyrell in U15 and Cathal in U16. A quality 800 by Kyrell, clocking 2.16, boosted his finishing place. This was Cathal's first outing in indoor track and the experience will be very beneficial going forward. Over in the USA Shay McEvoy was representing his college, Tulsa University, in the Larry Wieczorek Invitational, the 1 mile Hawkeye Pro, in Iowa. Having a go at coming under the four minutes he gave it [...]

KCH got 2023 off to a flying start with a great turnout in the Castle Park today. Probably the largest ever turnout by the club for a cross country event. Not alone were the juveniles to the fore but the adults and veterans also made their presence felt. It was great to see some nine O/50s in action with Niamh Richardson taking gold and the men's team also getting the gold. In the mixed relays KCH won the junior and were second in the senior. Approximately 20 under sevens were a sight to behold as they ran with abandon and [...]
St Stephen's Day brought success on the roads for a number of our athletes. Peter Lynch and Jamie Gahan headed to Clonmel for the annual 4 mile run. Both ran well with Peter taking first place in 18.37 and Jamie placing fourth in 19.40. Nearer home the Richardson family took on the Stoneyford 5K and made it their own with Aoibhe first female finisher in 17.08, Grace second, Ella third and Niamh fourth. Could that be a record in a 5K race!! Clare Lodge, Hannah Lodge and Barbara Rossiter were among the finishers. Eoin Everard took first place in the [...]
