It was good to see Cliodhna Manning back on the startline in Santry today. Running in her usual 400m event she easily qualified for Sunday's final with second place in her heat in 56.54. Sunday's final was a different challenge. Up against Phil Healy and Sophie Becker meant a serious race. Cliodhna seemed slow over the first 200 but a strong finish brought her into third place and anew PB of 53.05.  It was also good to see Aaron Barron back in action. Another weekend in Tullamore. Another stepup from county competition. Another great haul of medals by our athletes. Another round of thanks to all our coaches for preparing the athletes week after week and also the parents for their support. There were thirtyfour individual medals won nine gold, thirteen silver and twelve bronze. A further number in fourth place including Fiach Crowley in U12 hurdles; Liam Thompson in U17 high jump; Paddy Kelly in U17 3000m; William Nugent n 200m U17; Blaithin Holden in U17 300m hurdles; Isabella Burke in U18 3000m; Kate Maher in U14 sprint; Martha Bergin in U14 [...]

There was a very enjoyable evening in Thomastown today as the weather was perfect, the atmosphere relaxed and boys and girls enjoying the competition. KCH had a great turnout of juveniles and quite a number taking part in their first ever track and field event. Others having whetted the appetite at the "A" event were very enthusiastic. One of note was Under 9 boy, Daniel McIntyre, with gold in the long jump, silver in 80m and bronze in 300m and turbo jav. The Danesfort Mile Marker was held today on the roads around Danesfort. The five mile event was won comfortably by James Ledingham. James who on Friday night claimed first place in the 3000m county Kilkenny championship event on the track at Scanlon Park as in fine fettle in The Mile Marker. He took first place in 26.19. Paddy Kelly, competing at junior level in the event, also claimed a first place finish in 31.03. Geraldine Grogan also scored a first in the vets section with a 37.15 finish. Today was Leinster Relay Day held in Leixlip. KCH had great numbers out and had equally great results finishing (It appears) second to Rathoath who had big wins in the older ages. This is not to take away from a fine overall performance by our boys and girls. Winning 13 sets of team medals in a Leinster event is a good days work in any sport. So well done boys and girls - four gold, five silver and four bronze. The gold medals were won by boys U17 (4x400), Under 11 girls (4x100) and boys under 14 and girls under 14 [...]

KCH had eight athletes taking part in the Leinster Combined Events in Carlow today. There were seven in under 13 - five girls and two boys. All did well. Kara Canavan scored 1,o35 points to place 7th in a large field of competitors. Emily Long, Hannah Devine, Liadan Blanche and Emily Knox had good competition which will be very good experience for future involvement. The two under 13 boys were Thomas Hayes and Shay Molloy finishing 6th and 7th respectively. Star of the day was Kyrell Mtinsi. He had first in 75m hurdles, 3rd in long jump, 4th in shot [...]

The final day of the county championships, confined mostly to adults, was held on the track tonight. And KCH had a good turnout with four ladies and eight men getting in the medals. While bigger numbers would be better the willingness of those who came to compete in numerous events balanced the outcome. Kate Millea deserved a rest day on Saturday - 1st in Senior wals, 200m, 100m and long jump and 3rd in 3000 o/30. Joan Martin had 1st in 300 o/30, 100 o/35, 2nd in long jum o/40 and 2nd in 200 o/45. A wet day in Tullamore - A new tent for some shelter - great turnout - fantastic performances. It was a busy day for all involved- athletes, coaches and parents. The under twelves were out in force - over twenty competing. Top result came to Jasmine Timmons McEneaney who won silver in the 60m sprint in 8.86 seconds. Caoimhe Quinn also made the final and finished 7th in 9.26. Amelia O'Brien exited at semi-final stage with a PB of 9.30. The All-Ireland Schools was held in Tullamore today. A small number of our athletes were involved and all acquitted themselves handsomely. Matias Quaglia, St kierans College won silverin the 100m and placed 9th in the long jump. Loreto had four of our girls in action. In junior Molly Daly won bronze in the 200m and Ella Wall placed 9th in the high jump. Kate Maher and Martha Bergin ran in the minor 4x100 relay which placed 8th.   

A number of our senior athletes were involved in a variety of events at different locations. Nearest home were those who competed in the Leinsters in Carlow on 28th May. Paul Phelan M50 won silver in 200 (27.67) and 800 (2.25.76). Eamon O'Connor was 6th in Senior 1500 (4.13.54). Jack Manning was 4th in Senior 100 (11.31). Ross Daly clocked 11.67 in his 100 and was 4th in senior 200 (23.40). Padraig Ruane completed the 5000m in 16.51.43 to place 7th.    Eoin Everard was in Oordegem, Belgium competing in the International Flanders Athletic Meeting. His event was the 5000 which [...]
