This year's annual Awards Night took on a different format from previous years. This was the result of different constraints not least being the Covid. The presentation to the juveniles was made during training tonight and the adult awards were made online. For the juveniles there were three levels of award. To honour those who competed on teams, both club and county, at county, provincial and national level each received a medal recognising his/her participation. Big numbers travelled to Raheny village for the annual National Road Relays held there today. KCH had two teams competing - Senior Men and Masters Men O/50.  The Masters was a three man team of Paul Fallon, David Devine and Paul Phelan. Paul Fallon ran the first lap (6.16) - handing over to David Devine who had two laps (12.45). Paul Phelan had the final lap (5.39). A number of our younger juvenile athletes had an enjoyable day out at the St Senan's Open track and field competition in Kilmacow today. Kate Kelly (U10) had success in three events - winning bronze in  80m and 300m and teaming up with her pals won gold in the under 10 relay. The other team members were Ella O'Flaherty, Julia Daly and Hannah O'Brien. In girls U12 Jasmine Timmons McEneaney won silver in 80m and just like Kate in the under 10s she and her pals also won gold in the under 12 relay. The other team members were Amelia [...]

Why go to Boston? To run a marathon of course. And so Clare Dermody and Mary Prendergast headed off. And both ran and ran quite well posting 3.23.50 and 3.26.04 respectively. 

Another successful "Streets" took place across the Kilkenny streets tonight. With over 800 entries and atheltes form in excess of 80 clubs with the four provinces represented it promised to be a great night. And so it turned out. A great night and a successful night. Eoin Everard, twice a second place finisher, made no mistake this time. In the front group from the start he made his final move before hitting the Parade and raised his arms in victory as he crossed the finish line. Victory and also a New Record time of 14.11. KCH had three students competing for DCU at this years Intervarsities track and field championships held in IT Carlow. All three garnered points from their respective events thereby helping DCU become the overall winner. Busiest was Ciara Deely competing in three events - 4th in 400 hurdles(67.34), 6th in 400m (60.24) and also a member ofthe winning 4x400m relay. Jack Manning placed 5th in 400m (49.36) and also ran a leg of the 3rd placed 4x400m relay. April 1st might be All Fools Day but our athletes weren't fools. Neither were they fooled. It was by and large a weekend of PBs. Our two men in Tulsa, Oklahoma, had a 2,500 kilometer journey to compete in the Stanford Invitational on April1st. Shay McEvoy competed in the 5K with a PB of 13.46.45. Then Peter Lynch had a PB of 28.36.32 for the 10K.  Nearer home our juveniles were in Athlone on Saturday for the All-Irelands. Seven relay teams, having qualified from the Leinsters, were in action.
