Thirteen good men and true brought home the goods from the National League final in Tullamore today. With a blend of youth and experience and a great team effort the requisite number of events were covered and better than covered as wins were very much in evidence - team members took first place in eight events thereby setting things up nicely for the the competition. Day 3 and what a day it was - n more ways than one! The rain bucketed down which didn't auger well for a good day on the track but as it progressed the good results kept coming. The under 14s set the pace with both girls qualifying for the 200m final. It was a similar story, on the double, with both the 200m couple and the 250m hurdlers making the final. Fifteen of our juveniles took part in Day 2 of the national track and field championships in Tullamore today. Most successful were our two  under 15 girls. They may have been disappointed with disqualification in yesterdays relay final but they weren't to be denied two days running.  Aisling Phelan won the gold beating Ellen Daly by a mere two hundreths of a second. Matias Quaglia also excelled. Returning overnight from the SIAB in Wales he won the 100m U16 in a PB of 11.04. Holidays, Injuries and Foreign competitions deprived us of a number of athletes with the result that a number of teams had to withdraw. Well done to those who did compete with great results. The under 14 girls with a good team won gold. Team members were Mollierose Keegan, Jasmine Timmons McEneaney, Kelly Charters and Ella Sorohan. Their time was 53.09. The under 15 girls were flying - won the semifinal in 51.35 but unfortunately picked up that dreaded result - DQ, in the final. Despite heavy prolonged rain there were a number of excellent results from our athletes at this years National B Championships held in Tullamore today. What a joy to see Ellen Cormack on the podium being presented with the gold medal for first place in the U15 800m final - a race she ran in 2.28.01. Also in U15 was Eoghan O'Farrell who won his 100m heat in 13.05 and proceeded to win third place in the final in 13.26. In U16 Charlie Lyons had a fine performance. How proud all in the club were as we watched the progress of our athletes in the international arena. Molly Daly and Pia Langton were wearing the Irish singlet with distinction at the European Under 18 championships in Banska Bystrica, Slovenia. Molly finished 4th in her 200m heat in 24.61 which qualified her for the semifinal where she finished 7th in 24.81. Pia was 3rd  in her heat of the 800m n a comfortable time of 2.11.00, She ran an excellent semifinal to clock a PB of 2.07.90 thereby qualifying for Sunday's final where she finished in 8th place.  While [...]

KCH had five athletes competing in Santry at the AAI Games over the weekend and all had good returns. On Saturday Cliodhna Manning moved down to the 200m which she won in 24.29. Billy Coogan moved up to the 10,000mwhere he placed 5th in 31.55.04. Alex Cullen was 3rd in the 110 hurdles in 54.25.  Cathal O'Reilly with his third competitive race in less than a week took first place in the 1500 in 3.51.34. Cathal O'Reilly had an excellent run in the Morton mile tonight. Having run the 3000 at Cork City Sports on Tuesday he was in Santry tonight for the Morton mile which he ran in 4.00.93 with a 3.45.68 split for the 1500m.
