How proud all in the club were as we watched the progress of our athletes in the international arena. Molly Daly and Pia Langton were wearing the Irish singlet with distinction at the European Under 18 championships in Banska Bystrica, Slovenia. Molly finished 4th in her 200m heat in 24.61 which qualified her for the semifinal where she finished 7th in 24.81. Pia was 3rd in her heat of the 800m n a comfortable time of 2.11.00, She ran an excellent semifinal to clock a PB of 2.07.90 thereby qualifying for Sunday’s final where she finished in 8th place.
While they were performing in the Slovakian heat Kate Maher and Matias Quaglia were on the Irish team competing in the Schools International in Carmarthen, Wales. Both came home with medals. Kate with bronze on the girls relay team and likewise Matias – a bronze with the boys Relay team. Kate also scored with 7th place in the 200m (25.82).
A great achievement by all four and we look forward to their ongoing development over the next number of years.
