Frankfurt Marathon called and two of our ladies answered. Claire Darmody hit the finish line in 3.24.10 and Anita Byrnewas close behind finishing in 3.25.49. Well done ladies.

Trust Mtinsi led the KCH contingent in this years Dublin City Marathon. His time of 2.39.38 was some seven minutes better tha his 2017 result. Another with seven minutes improvement was Ciaran Hughes who came home in 3.18.56. Paul Moran 2nd, Conor Bolger 3rd and Graham Bourne 4th all finsihed under 3 hours their respective times being 2.50.00, 2.51.48 and 2.56.20. With a good number of men in action and running well KCH men were 1st, 2nd, 4th and 6th teams. Our under 18 boys showed the result of their dedicated adherence to training at theLeinster cross-county in Navan today. Competing without the star performer of recent years, Shay McEvoy, they took the gold in the under 18 race and were silver medal winners in the junior section. James Kearney led them home in 5th place and the rest of the team bunched well with Kevin Burns 15th, Luke Whelan 18th, John Muldowney 21st and Cathal Kearney 22nd. Thunderstorms led to time changes for American Conference cross-country in New Orleans today. So it was wet and muddy conditions which the runners encountered but it didn't bother Peter Lycnh or his team mates as they took the team title for the fifth consecutive year. Peter ran well from the gun and finished in fourth place.

KCH had three athletes competing in the AAI Open cross-country in Abbottstown today. Once again Brian Maher showed his amazing ability and tenacity with a firstplace finish in the over 40 division. His time of 23.29 for the 7.5Km is also impressive. Eoin Everard competing at senior level placed 10th in 23.13 and the third fine performance came from Shay McEvoy who ran the Junior 6Km. Shay finished in 8th place in 18.56. Well done men. Ye did us proud.

Well done to all who took part in the 5K and 10K runs in aid of breast cancer. With 17,000 registered for the run great credit goes to Irene Henebry for her hosting the event and the team she gathered to help at registration and marshalling. Congrats.

Todays summer weather brought joy to all at cross-country Day 2 in Castlecomer. Our new tent got a good airing, even if it didn't have to worry about rain. Many of our younger athletes enjoyed the day so much that they careered around the fields running much further in their enjoyment than they had run in their races. Our first numbe ONEr was in race number one - the boys under 7 - with Darragh O'Callaghan taking the gold.
