KCH were well represented at the Leinster Road Championships held in Gowran today. Best team performance came from the Novice ladies which won bronze. They were led home by Orla McPhillips in 6th, closely followed by Meghan McCarthy in 7th. Maebh Maher 23rd and Claire Beckett 31st completed the scoring. The Masters women  - Jacinta Mulroe 24th, Kate Millea 40th and Sheila O'Callaghan 59th - were 10th club with Jacinta and Kate scoring on the 6th place county team. Apr 28 KCH at Drake Relays

KCH had two athletes at the Drake Relays in Iowa tonight. Shay McEvoy representing Tulsa University finished 3rd in the 1500 in 3.44.94. Peter Lynch, unattached, was pacesetter for the 5000. He did the job well setting the pace from start to the 3000 dropping out on 8.14.13. Job well done.

Boston - Apr 17 - It was Sean O'hArgain's first marathon and a repeat for his companions Una Byrne, Irene Henebry. Ann Shortall, Breegeen Murphy and Dee Scott. California - Apr 21 - Peter Lynch was in Stanford, California competing in the Elite 5000m at the Payton Jordan Invitational. He finished 5th in 13.30.86 with a 13 second PB which moves him from 57th on the All-time Irish 5000 list to 23rd place. Apr 21 Peter Moves Up the Rankings

Following his recent achievements over half marathon and 10k it was the 5000m that Peter attacked tonight. The race was at the Payton Jordan Invitational in Stanford, California. Finishing fifth in 13.30.86 gives him a PB improvement of 13 seconds for the distance and in the all-time Irish 5000m rankings he moves from 57th to 23rd. Well done Peter.

Shay McEvoy, representing Tulsa University, competed in the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, California tonight. Running in the 5000m he had a fine run to clock 13.47.43. Best wishes for the rest of the season.

Apr 6th + Training Camp

While those of us who were "home based" enjoying the STREETS or the OPEN in Kilmacow some of our older juveniles were at Camp in Monte Gorda in Portugal. The spell of warm weather training and confidence building will stand them well over the next couple of months.

Apr 10 & 16 St Senan’s and Ferrybank Open

A number, particularly of our younger athletes, made it to the Open track and field in both St Senan's on the 10th in Kilkacow and  Ferrybank on the 16th in Waterford. Among those winning individual medals were the following:- Cian McIntyre U8, Daniel McIntyre U10, Kate Kelly, Ellen Ryan, Julia Daly U11,  Amelia O'Brien, Emma Kelly, Fiach Crowley, Daire O'Flaherty, Daithi Egan U13, Kate Maher U15 and Donnacha Maher U16. Another great evening of running and celebration with a very successful Streets of Kilkenny. They came from the four provinces in great numbers - over eighty clubs were represented - over eighty of our Harriers ran in the race - Olympians (men and women) were represented - new records were set - some eighteen completed the course under 15 minutes.  Andrew Coscoran, Star of the Sea, claimed the €800 on offer as he crossed the finish line setting a new course record of 14.14.  For the ladies Ide Nic Dhomhnaill did likewise setting a new an impressive record of 15.48. Apr 1/2 National Juvenile Indoors

The National Juvenile Indoor finals were held in TUS, Athlone over the weekend. Twenty two of our juveniles made the trip and all competed very well. In terms of rewards apart from numerous PBs six medals were won - 1 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze. There were also four 4th place finishers. The U12s  had Aoibhinn Kelly who competed in 60m and Long Jump.  For the U13s we had Mollie Rose Keegan, Jasmine Timmons McEneaney, Ria Quinn (High jump) and Fiach Crowley (hurdles). Mar 31 Big 10K in USA

Thirty-one top class athletes went to the start of the Stanford Invitational 10K in California tonight. Among them was Peter Lynch, Unattached, wearing the KCH singlet. Brian Fay (Waterford and Washington) acting as hare led them through the first 5000 in a little over 14 minutes suggesting a 28 minute finish was likely for a number. Peter settled in around 12th/13th place over the first 6K and then gradually moved to 7th.
