Another great night of running around the city. And another record for the course set this time by Pierre Murchan, Dublin City Harriers, in 14.03. First female finisher was Fiona McKenna in the UCD colours (16.46). Runners came from far and wide with between 70 and 80 clubs taking part including one from City of Norwich.  KCH as host club had many taking part with first seniors home being James Ledingham in 15.14 and Annie McEvoy in 18.37.  Our Junior men were well represented with Billy Coogan 2nd junior and 9th overall (14.59), Ruairi McEvoy was home in 15.51 and [...]

Mar 23/24 More Distance PBs

Maebh Richardson, university of Portland, had a 15 second PB when finishing 5th in the 5000 in Oregon at the weekend. Her new PB for the distance is 16.37. Ger Forde competed in the National 10K in Dunboyne where he completed the distance in 31.01. In the Mallow 10 mile Oonagh Guilfoyle posted a PB of 75.25. Anne Marie Shortall came in in 76.39 and Emily Maher made it across the line in 7654.

Mar 23 Schools International CC

This years schools international was held in The Sports Ireland Campus. Our sole representative this year was Robert Coogan who was competing in the Junior Boys race. Robert ran well to finish 16th and become the second scorer on the Irish team. Well done Robert.

Mar 23 All-Ireland Indoor Relays

Another exciting day for our juveniles at the All-Ireland relays in Athlone.  Exciting and successful. Seven relay teams qualified for the nationals -Five teams brought home medals - four gold and one silver AND including a CBP by the U15 girls. A busy day also for Conor Knox running in U13 & U14 relays and placing 7th in the high jump with a 1.35 clearance. Mar 17 The Streets of Portlaoise

The bright weather on this years' St Patrick's Day attracted big numbers to Portlaoise for the annual 5k Streets of Portlaoise. Among them were a number of KCH athletes. Foremost among them was Eoin Everard who completed the course in 15 minutes and took third place. Jamie Gahan in 15.13 was first O/40. Geraldine Grogan was first O/50. Mike O'Shaughnessy was third O/55 with Michael Grogan fourth O/55. Also fourth O/55 was Bridget Rochford. Others to do the run were Andrew Smyth, Colm Smyth, Paddy Walsh, Mark O'Duffy, Trust Mtinsi, Matthew Warren and Paula Hynes.

Mar 16 Peter Runs THE TEN

Peter Lynch took on a big run in California on Saturday night. Referred to as the TEN it is a race which attracts runners from the US and further afield. Twenty-five laps of the track and running in his KCH strip Peter was there with the best of them. Setting a new PB of 27.49.30 he placed fifth in the race and also becomes the  fifth all-time Irish for the distance. Well done.

Mar 10 Belfast and Bohermeen

We have three PBs returning from the half marathon in Bohermeen today - Mary Prendergast 1.33.44; Colm Smyth 1.19.24 and Denis Vasiljevs 1.18.45. Great running. In Belfast on Saturday Cathal O'Reilly placed 5th in the IUAA cross country to help his college, DCU, to the silver medals.

Mar 10 Leinster Indoor Relays

KCH juveniles continue to excite when competing in relay races. Indoor or outdoor matters little. Today was no exception with a number of excellent results.  There was gold for U17 girls - Kate Maher, Ruth Crowley, Aoibhe Quinn and Molly Daly. Silver for U15 girls - Aisling Phelan, Kara Canavan, Emily Long, Ellen Daly, Mollie rose Keegan and Eimear Roche. Gold also for Under 14 boys - Fiach Crowley, Conor Knox, Daniel Greene, Aidan Malone, Killian Croke, Noah Flynn. Mar 09 Schools All Ireland CC

Tymon Park, Tallaght was the venue for this years  schools cc national finals. KCG athletes were there in numbers representing different schools. Representing Loreto were Amelia O'Brien 60 (minor girls), Isabelle Burke 20, Aoife Fitzgerald 71, Ruth Cody 66 and Hazel Coogan 46 (Senior Girls). ~Representing the Presentation were Junior girls - Sinead Cormack 14, Ellen Cormack 47 and Kate Canavan 81 - helping the team to 4th place. Intermediate girls - Clodagh O'Callaghan 22 and Eimear Cormack 66 - helpng their team to 1st place.  The CBS has Robert Coogan 7th  and Paul Millea 31 in junior boys. Robert's [...]

Mar 09 Leinster Junior/Senior/Masters

Three KCH athletes competed successfully in the Leinster Indoors today. Noah Gilmore won bronze in the Junior 60m hurdles. Eamon O'Connor went in Senior 3000m and 15000m winning silver and bronze respectively. Graham Bourne had his engine well tuned as he medalled in no less than five events in the O/45 category - Gold in Walk, 3000m and 60m hurdles and silver in Long jJump and Triple Jump.
