TEXAS -Athletics along with much else is returning to action as vacinations help to qwell the covid virus. Our US students were at the regional conference championships at the Bryan-College Station in Texas for the four days of the extended event. Peter Lynch, Tulsa, went in the 10,000m on Wednesday 26th with hopes of qualifying for the nationals in Oregon in June. With twelve top places qualifying his hopes were dashed as a couple of slow laps pushed him down to 30th in the placings. University College T & F in the USA is hotting up this month as athletes compete to qualify for the national championships in June. Athletes from Tulsa University, including Petyer Lynch, headed to Tampa Florida this weekend for the American Athletic Conference. Peter went in the 5000m and while his time (14.08.78) was some seconds outside his PB, finishing third,  he had the consolation of making the podiunm to receive the bronze medal. Team mate Patrick Dever won the event in 13.41.68.

Aoibhe Richardson, San Francisco University, impressed with her performance at the Azusa Pacific University track over the weekend. Competing in the Last Chance Twilight and Multis Event she took second place in the 1500m in an excellent time of 4.23.28. Putting in these shorter and faster runs should greatly help her performances over the longer distances. Aoibhe also plansto be pace setter in the 5000m tomorrow. Well done.

Shay McEvoy ended his first season with the Tulsa Hurricanes on a positive note. Competing in the Arkansas Twilight Event he was entered in the second heat of the 1500m. Despite not being pushed by the opposition in the race he won it comfortably in 3.50.66. A nice finish to a great season of running.   

Another big PB for Aoibhe this weekend. Running the 5000m in the Veterans Memorial Stadium, Clovis, California she clocked 15.43.58 knocking some forty seconds off her previous time for the distance. Congratulations once again.
