Once the St Senan's Open cross-country appears it means the cross-country season is up and running. A small number from KCH travelled for the event. A bad weather forecast didn't deter those seeking competition and a meaning-full preparation for the upcoming county championships. Individual medals were won at U8, U10 and U12. U8- Cian McIntyre won bronze; U10 - Daniel McIntyre won gold and Daniel Quinn won bronze. Runners from many parts of the country assembled for this annual multi-event around the city and rural environs. A considerable  number of local athletes were involved. Among these were the following  - 10K (Eddie Hawe, David Kennedy, Eoin Molloy, RitaMcGarvey, Mary Ann Molloy, Brigid Rochford; 30K (Ann Marie Shortall, Angela Lalor, Teresa Comerford); Half Marathon (Irene Henebry, Darragh Sharpe, Jo Scobie, Jackie Varley); Marathon (Emma Kenndy, Dee Scott, Breegen Murphy, Paul Comerford).

The new cross-country season got under way in the Castle Park today with a good turnout from our athletes. Despite forecasts of heavy and prolonged rain the event went ahead with very little need for umbrellas or coats. KCH athletes collected the majority of the medals. First race of the day was the over 50/s where the club had individual winners with David Lawlor and Niamh Richardson in the men' s and women's races. The men were third club with David, Brendan Phelan 6th, Sena O'hHArgain 11th and Martin Dowling 14th.  Under 7 girls had good results with Heidi Guilfoyle [...]
