Nov 17 KCH in Madison, USA

2018-11-20T11:15:52+00:00

The KCH banner added to the colour at the NCAA cross country championships held in Thomas Zimmer course in Madison, Wisconsin, USA today. Athletes and supporters alike awoke this morning to see everthing covered in snow. The US being well prepared for such weather the roads and car parks were cleared of snow by 8.00am. Likewise with the start and finish areas of the cross country course. KCH athletes,  Aoibhe Richardson, running with Portland college, and Peter Lynch running in the colours of Tulsa Hurricanes, were in fine form and did their bit for their respective colleges. Aoibhe ran the [...]

Nov 11 Annie & Shay – Our Number 1s

2018-11-12T13:54:43+00:00

There was a clear blue sky in Adamstown at 11.45am as the under 9s went to the line for the open Leinsters cross-country. No hint to what was to come later. What could be described as a cloudburst with storm force winds drove everyone to seek cover and some tents to the heavens. The result was a wet and mucky course as the running continued.  So back to the running - Sinead and Ellen Cormack represented the club in the under 9s and did so very well as they finished 10th and 16th respectively. And then it was the turn [...]

Nov 09 Great Runs by Our US Students

2018-11-10T10:10:54+00:00

Today was the day for the regional finals of the colleges cross country season. Peter Lynch on his second year in Tulsa University did us proud with another fabulous run on the Newman Golf Course, Peoria, Illinois. Melting snow made it heavy going over the 10Km course but Peter was equal to the challenge. In 32nd place after 3Km he gradually worked through the field to finish in 9th pace in 31.08.2 to lead the Tulsa team into third place and gain qualification for the nationals on 17th November in Wisconsin. Meanwhile over on the US west coast in California [...]

The numbers competing in todays senior cross-country championships had more the appearance of a Leinster event, particularly in the womens' race which had thirtytwo on the start line. KCH with eight athletes involved fought a great battle. Caoimhe Foley led the challengeand finished strongly in eight place. Donna Dowling 10th, Cathy Millett 11th and Caitriona Muldowney 13th made an excellent formation. There was excellent backup from Marie Cormack 16th, Joan Martin 21st, Kate Millea 24th and Joya Burns 28th. One more and we could have comfortably entered a team in the B section. The Men with eleven runners had no [...]

2018-11-05T17:03:48+00:00

A nice mild morning saw big numbers in Kilmacow for the B Even Ages championships.  KCH numbers were rather small but what we lacked in number we made up for in quality. Under 8 gilrs Lucy Maher and Aisling Maye left many in their wake as they finished 7th and 15th respectively. In the boys race Daire O'Flaherty was determined all through and made considerable gains to take individual bronze. In the under 10s Sinead Cormack in 11th place led the girls home.
