Jan 31 Leinster U20/Masters Indoors

Today's results from the Leinster U20 and Masters in Athlone had a golden hue. In the U20 events there was gold for Tom Murphy in the 1500m (4.10.36). Gold also in the Ladies U20 for Clodagh O'Callaghan (4.48.90). Ellen Daly also won gold in her 200m(25.59). It was silver for Aisling Phelan in the60m (7.86). Charlie Lyons competed in the 60m and the 200m where he finished 7th (7.39) and 4th (24.00) respectively. Grace Delahunty placed 7th in the 400m (1.03.54).  There was gold for Graham Bourne in the O/50 Pentathlon with 2194 points. His achievements in the five events [...]

Jan 28 Good Running at NIA

Some good running at the Indoors tonight. Pia Langton won the mile in 4.49.36. Hannah Kehoe finished 6th 5.10.51. Ruairi McEvoy ran the 1500 and finished 9th in 3.56.41.

Jan 28 South Leinster Schols CC

The sun made an appearance today to welcome the athletes to Fenagh, Co Carlow for the South Leinster Schools CC. So it would be a grand day for the job! Not so as the previous weeks rain and a recent cross country event meant the course was already a quagmire. There some excellent individual results among the various schools teams. Loreto had gold in the senior ladies and silver with the junior girls. The Presentation had second place in Senior ladies and St Kieran's had third place in senior men. It was all off to Nenagh for this year's County Kilkenny Indoor Athletics Championships today - great to be indoors with the persistent wet and cold January. The competition was good and our athletes performed well winning some 68 individual medals (31 gold, 21 silver and 16 bronze) and 11 sets of Relay medals including five sets of gold. Two athletes were very much on gold - Daniel McIntyre, under 13, and Kelly Charters, under 16. Both won their medals in the same events - 60m hurdles, Long jump and high jump. Jan 17/18 The Combined Indoors

We had a number of athletes competing in the Indoor Combined Events over the weekend. Busiest was Noah Gilmore competing in the senior heptathlon where he scored 3901 points to win national bronze.  Graham Bourne with 1999 points was first O/50 at National and Zoe Beck competing in the Youth section was 11th with 1870. The four juveniles did exceptionally well in their resoective Penthatlons. Conor Knox, U15, with 2257 points was second in Leinster and third in National. Under 14 athlete Cathal Comerford scored 1488 to win Leinster gold and placed 6th at national. Under 16 athletes Fiach Crowley [...]

Jan 18 Leinster Intermediate CC & The Heath

Today was a day to remember after a really fine performance by our athletes in the Leinster Intermediate CC. Both men and ladies had sufficient numbers in the field which inspired confidence from the start.  The men did exceptionally well to take first team medals - achieved by team running - Paddy Kelly 6th and Eamon O'Connor 8th worked together; John Behan 10th and Dean Rowe 16th also worked together. Then we had Padraig Ruane 35, Trevor Spillane 48 and Derek Alyward 50. The result was KCH first team and the first four also helping the county team to gold. [...]

KCH had nine athletes competing in the Open Indoor today. For most of them this was their first time in this type of competition and all nine can be proud of their achievements today. Molly Daly won her 200m heat in 24.07 to finish 2nd overall. Her sister Ellen won her 60m heat in 8.02. Aisling Phelan also won her 60m heat in 7.98. Charlie Lyons had an excellent time of 7.44 in his 60m. Gerry Forde got his New Year off to a good start. Running in today's Tom Walsh 10K Memorial Race he took first place in 30.57. Well done.

Jan 04 Co Intermediate C C

The County Intermediate cross country was held today in very cold conditions hosted by St Joseph's athletic club. Nuala FitzGibbon was in fine form and finishing in first place she was a major part of the KCH ladies team winning the bronze medals. Other team members were 7 Tara Brett, 12 Jill Kavanagh, and 13 Kate Millea. Despite the best efforts of the men's team they had to settle for 4th place. Scorers were 8 David FitzGerald, 17 Trevor Spillane, 18 Stevie McNamee and 22 Ger Fogarty. Joanne O'Toole in the girls U9 was pur sole representative in the juvenile [...]
