Oct 27 Two in Boston CC

Two of our US based athletes were in action in the Mayor's Cup Cross Country in Boston today. Both had excellent runs with Grace Richardson finishing 2nd in the ladies race and Billy Coogan placing 10th in the men's race. Well done.

Oct 27 Dubin City Marathon

There were a lot of miles/kilometers run this weekend by club members. Seventeen crossed the finish line in the Dublin City Marathon and two, Ger Forde (2.21.19) in 31st place and Anne Marie Shortall (3.46.04) in Frankfurt. Of the "Dubliners" no less than eight had PBs - Colm Smyth 2.54.12, Paudie McCarthy 3.07.57, Gerald Fogarty 3.13 57, Oonagh Guilfoyle 3.35.20, Leisha O'Connell 3.38.36, Laura Andrews 3.49.47, Rhoda Griffith 3.51.00 and Orla O'Gorman 3.54.39.  The other nine were Roseanna Knox 3.15.02, Seamus Kavanagh 3.15.32, Tony Lauhoff 3.17.03, Leanne Butler 3.27.37, Matthew Warren 3.38.27, Eileen Morgan 4.10.08, Emma Staunton 4.20.24, Jackie Varley [...]

Oct 19/20 A Busy Weekend

LEINSTER EVEN AGE CC We had four individual qualifiers for the national cc - Kate Kelly 4th U12, Johnny O'Carroll 12th U12, Daniel Greene 2nd U14 and Snead Cormack 2nd U16. The girls U12 team placed third to also qualify. a fine run by Jamie Gahan won him bronze in the Novice race. Oct 13 Abbottstown Open CC

While our juveniles had an enjoyable and successful trip to the national  cc relays a number of our adults also had a good day at the national open Cross Country. There were six juniors in action - three female and three male with all performing well. Ladies - 5 Pia Langton, 6 Isabella Burke, 8 Orla Looney. Men - 4 David Williams, 15 Ruairi McEvoy, 16 Callum Barron. Senior - Ladies - 15 Hannah Kehoe: Men 6 Cathal O'Reilly. Cathal's 6th place in the senior race was also 1st under 23. Well done all.

Oct 13 Peter’s Marathon Debut

Peter Lynch, currently resident in North Carolina, made his marathon debut in Chicago today. Starting with the elite wave he ran a very controlled race for the first 20 miles. Averaging approximately five minutes per mile he passed the half-way mark in 1.05.16 suggesting a possible under 2.10.00 finish. Unfortunately the wall or the lack of experience hit and his last couple of miles were run at a little over six minute pace. However a debut marathon of 2.17.40 is very good indeed. Well done Peter. Oct 13 Relays in Abbottstown

Club juveniles travelled in numbers and gained a wealth of experience at the national cross country relays in Abbottstown today. First up were the under 11s. The girls teams placed 15th (Winter Rose Molloy, Isobel Hoyne, Jane Byrne, Edie Kemple) and 23rd (Caoimhe Malone, Sadie Murphy, Aoibhin Behan, Lucy Maher, Nora Carroll) in a huge field of 35 teams. The under 11 boys also did well to finish 6th (Daniel Quinn, Charlie Norris, Conor Delaney, Daniel McIntyre) and 21st (James Healy, Harry Healy, Finn Van Volkengoed, Oisin Smith, Ethan Maher ) out of 24 teams.  In the mixed under 12 [...]

Oct 12 Cross Country Shield Stays

Day 2 of the county cross country championships were held today in Ballycurran Cross With many travelling to Dublin tomorrow numbers competing today were down. However with first team finishes by Boys U11 and Girls U17 KCH were top club with 29 points and retain the cross country juvenile shield for another year. While cross country is hotting up so too is marathon preparation. This weekend we have reports on two from the road. Lorcan O'Toole had a PB of 3.28.46 in the Lisbon marathon. Likewise for David Wilson with 1.32.28 in The Fastlane half marathon.

Oct 06 County Cross Country Championships -Day 1

The cross country championships got under way today with the juvenile even ages and Novice championships in Castlecomer. For KCH this was an excellent opening day. For the juveniles there were 13 individual medals in the championship races - 7 gold, 2 silver and 4 bronze.  The teams had 5 gold, 2 silver and 4 bronze. The adults were also impressive with the novice ladies having 1st, 2nd and 3rd individuals plus 1st and 2nd teams.
