Jan 27 US Students in Seattle

Two of our US college students were in action in Seattle at the weekend. Hannah Kehoe, San Francisco and Maebh Richardson, Portland took part in the mile event at the Washington Invitational. Hannah placed 25th in 4.28.23 while Maebh finished 70th in 5.02.42.

A big achievement for Meghan McCarthy at the Charlie Curran 5 mile in Carlow today. Crossing the finish line in 31 minutes she was the first lady finisher. Brendan O'Driscoll came home in 32.59. Bridget Rochford and Jackie Varley from out F4L squad finished in 44.38 and 47 .26 respectively.  Meanwhile Jamie Gahan was in action in Dublin running the Raheny 5. He placed 9th overall, first O/40, in 25.07. John Kearns returned to the road to finish the course in35.19.  Best wishes to all for a good run next Sunday in the Dungarvan/ John Treacy 10 mile.  [...]

Jan 28 AAI Games and National Indoor Heptathlon

Ross Daly competed in 60m and 200m at the AAI Games clocking 7.38 and 23.54 respectively. Noah Gilmore competed in the Junior Heptathlon and scoring 4,107 points he won silver. His achievement was helped by PBs in 60m (7.11), Shot (10.17), High jump (1.66) and Pole Vault (2.90). Well done Noah.

A number of our younger athletes travelled to Athlone for the indoor event tonight. 60m times were Daniel Greene 8.79, Jasmine Timmons McEneaney 8.35, Lola Long 8.98 and Alicja Slawinska 8.76. Daniel also clocked 2.23.68 in the 800m. Other 800 runners were Amelia O'Brien 2.32, Katie Byrne 2.34 and Emma Kelly 2.36. Hannah O'Brien did the 600m 2.22.19.

Jan 21 Leinster Intermediate CC

A great team effort by our Intermediate men at the Leinster CC in Avondale Co Wicklow today saw them place fourth in the inter-club competition. In addition the four scorers for the club also scored on the County team which placed second thereby winning Silver Leinster medals. Placings were as follows - 10 Padraig Ruane, 12 Eamon O'Connor, 21 Andrew Smyth, 25 Paul Bolger, 26 Graham Bourne, 27 Colm Smyth, 29 Shay Roddy. Well done and congratulations on a well organised team.

Avondale, Co Wicklow, proved a happy venue for our young athletes competing in the Leinster CC Relays today. It was gold for our Girls U12A and also for Boys U12A. The under 14 boys also won gold and the under 14 girls had to settle for bronze. Teams - Girls under  12  - Team A  - Julia Daly, Kate Kelly, Ellen Ryan, Hannah O'Brien, subs Casey Cleere and Mealla Crowley. Team B - Casey Cleere, Mealla Crowley, Ava Walsh, Nancy Lyons Teehan. Jan 20 National Indoors – Jun & U23

It was a long and successful day of athletics at TUS, Athlone, today for the national junior and under 23 indoors. KCH had nine junior and one U23 competing and they did us proud. Aoife Quinn went in the 60m and 200m clocking times of 8.37 and 27.36 respectively. Blaithin Holden competed in 60m hurdles and 200. Her respective times were 9.84 and 27.46. Grace Delahunty did the 200m in 27.10. Molly Daly won her heat in 24.54 and an unfortunate lane infringement led to disqualification in the final. Christmas is over. January is here. There will be no County Kilkenny Indoors this year but there will still be plenty of action.  Jan 06 - Ross Daly took advantage of the Indoor League to have a run. Guesting in the 200m he clocked 23.02. Jan 07 - Our adults made a good start to the cross country competitions with first team medals for the ladies and first and second team medals for the men at the co Intermediate in Kilmacow.
