May 27 – Deely Does It Again


Competing in the AAI Games in Santry Ciara Deely scored another PB when she clocked 54.68 in the 400m. We look forward to her taking part in the World Juniors in Tampere, Finland. The competition runs from July 10 to July 15.

May 26 – At the Milers Club, Belfast


A number of our junior athletes posted significant times at todays Milers Club event in Belfast. Times as follows:- 800m – Adam FitzPatrick 1.55.35, Rory Lodge 1.56.51. 1500m – James Kearney 4.19.72. Mile – Kevin Burns 4.42.67. 3000m – Shay McEvoy 8.36.46, Luke Whelan 9.39.25.

May 25 – Another Good Day for KCH


The weather once again proved good for Day 3 of the county track and field. Our athletes also proved good with medals being won in all ages from Robert Cullen, silver in 200m under 9 to Karen Nugent, revisiting her former juvenile speciality – the javelin, who took home silver in the senior event. Top performer on the day was Rory McGabahnn with wins in junior 400 and high jump. It was good to see Daire Murray back in competition with a win in the 1500m under 16. Aoibhe running NCAA West Regionals 24th May


Aoibhe Richardson takes on the 10,000m on the track tonight in the NCAA West Regional representing Portland Pilots for the University of Portland in Oregon USA.  Aoibhe is in her third year studying Psychology, having completed one year at the University of Limerick before travelling to the University of Portland. She is staying in Portland this summer as she was awarded an internship with Nike, who have their headquarters in Portland. Congratulations to Cliodhna Manning on her victory in the 400m in Loughborough today. Her time of 54 seconds was 1.28 seconds faster than the second finisher Catherine McManus.

May 20 – Gold and Silver Relays in Enniscorthy


It was dull, overcast and cold weather conditions that greeted the large contingent of club members and the their families on this our first visit to the athletic track at The Hub in Enniscorthy. While the weather might be considered a negative for the latter half of May our athletes produced many positives. There were thrills and spills – very little spills actually and what there were could be overlooked given the committment and overall performances of all our relay teams. May 19 – Silver for Alex in Leinster Combined


Scanlon Park, Loughboy, was the venue for this years Leinster Combined Events championships. This is an event which allows an athlete to experience without too much pressure a variety of activities. Alex Cullen was our sole medal winner. Competing in the under 13 event he placed second. Sena Young was fourth and Adam Slawinski was 6th. For the girls Blaithin Holden was 9th and Caoimhe O’Connor 14th. Three of our under 14 girls took part – Abbie O’Brien 5th and Orla Kenny and Katelyn Hennessy. Tara McGuire was 4th under 15. May 19 – Combined Events in Scanlon Park


Scanlon Park was the venue for this year’s Leinster Combined Events. A number of our younger members tasted this event for the first time and were quite successful. Included in this category were under 13 athletes Blaithin Holden, Caoimhe O’Connor, Adam Slawinski (6th) and Sean Young (4th). Alex Cullen showed his bit of previous experience with a silver medal result. In the under 14 category we had Orla Kenny, Katelyn Hennessyand Abbie O’Brien. The latter finished 5th. Tara McGuire, competing at under 15 level, had an excellent competition where she finished fourth. Well done you multi eventers.

May 16/19 – A+ by Ciara in Leinster Schools


There were some excellent performances by a number of our athletes at the Leinster Schools track and field finals held in Santry this week. Standing out on its own was Ciara Deely’s victory in the senior 400m. And not just because of the win but the time she achieved 54.99 gives her the qualifying time for the world juniors next July. Other Loreto students to show well were Becky Shannon, 3rd in Intermediate Pole Vault; Annie O’Connor and Ella Richardson both fourth place finishers in 800m and 1500m respectively.
