It was all off to Nenagh for this year’s County Kilkenny Indoor Athletics Championships today – great to be indoors with the persistent wet and cold January. The competition was good and our athletes performed well winning some 68 individual medals (31 gold, 21 silver and 16 bronze) and 11 sets of Relay medals including five sets of gold. Two athletes were very much on gold – Daniel McIntyre, under 13, and Kelly Charters, under 16. Both won their medals in the same events – 60m hurdles, Long jump and high jump. And they both added a fourth gold as members of first placed relay teams.
Results:U11 – Amenze Victor 1/60m, 3/400m; Holly Quinn 3/long jump; Cian McIntyre 1/long jump; Harry Trayer 2/long jump; Jonah Cleere 1/60m, Ollie Direen 1/60 (Joint). Girls and boys teams both finished second.
U12 – Roisin Hyland 2/60m hurdles. 3/long jump, 3/high jump; Edie Kemple 2/600; Ciara Lannon 2/shot; Alex O’Donovan 2/60m hurdles; Patrick Collins 3/60m hurdles; Shay Sheehan 2/long jump. The girls had two relay teams with a gold and a bronze while the boys relay won silver.
U13 – Daniel McIntyre 1/60m hurdles, 1/long jump, 1/high jump; Conor Laurence Delaney 3/60m hurdles, 2/high jump; Aaron Tyrell 1/60m, 1/600m; Dylan Guilfoyle 3/600m; Cillian Maher 1/u14 walk, 2/long jump; Isaac Burns 3/long jump; Molly Clarke 1/60m hurdles, 1/high jump, 3/60m; Nancy Lyons Teehan 1/long jump, 2/high jump; Aoibhinn Hyland 3/high jump; Caoimhe Malone 2/u14 walk. The boys had two relay teams which tied for first place. The girls relay team won silver.
Under 14 – Ellen Ryan 1/60m hurdles, 1/long jump, 2/60m; Julia Daly 1/60m, 2/60m hurdles; Beibhinn O’Brien 3/60m; Kate Kelly 1/800m; Madeline Kemple 2/high jump; Teagin Mtinsi 1/shot; Maeve O’Shea 3/long jump; Cathal Comerford 1/60m hurdles, 1/shot, 2/60m; Eoin Hoyne 2/60m hurdles, 2/800m, 3/ high jump. In the u15 relays the girls won gold and the boys won silver.
Under 15 – Conor Knox 1/high jump, 1/200m; Cameron McDonnell Butler 2/high jump, 2/200m; Sam Woodcock 1/800m.
Under 16 – Heidi Ryan 1/shot, 3/long jump; Ella Trayer 1/60m, 1/200m; Kelly Charters 1/60m hurdles, 1/long jump, 1/high jump. Amelia O’Brien 1/800; Katie Byrne 2/800; Marija Kraljevic 3/800. The u16 girls won the U17 relay.
U18/19 – Charlie Lyons 1/60m, 3/high jump; Charlie Ryan 1/200m, 2/60m, 2/shot, 3/long jump; Conor Malone 2/high jump.
Masters – Jenny McIntyre 1/WFD, 3/Shot.
