Thirty-one top class athletes went to the start of the Stanford Invitational 10K in California tonight. Among them was Peter Lynch, Unattached, wearing the KCH singlet. Brian Fay (Waterford and Washington) acting as hare led them through the first 5000 in a little over 14 minutes suggesting a 28 minute finish was likely for a number. Peter settled in around 12th/13th place over the first 6K and then gradually moved to 7th. When the final kick came he moved with the leaders to finish 5th in 27.59.27 – one of five crossing the line under the 28 mark . An outstanding performance which places him 11th on the all-time Irish list.
