Our under 18 boys showed the result of their dedicated adherence to training at theLeinster cross-county in Navan today. Competing without the star performer of recent years, Shay McEvoy, they took the gold in the under 18 race and were silver medal winners in the junior section. James Kearney led them home in 5th place and the rest of the team bunched well with Kevin Burns 15th, Luke Whelan 18th, John Muldowney 21st and Cathal Kearney 22nd. Our two under 18 girls also ran well with AnnieMcEvoy coming 5th and Issey Shine placing 22nd.
Martha Bergin and Kate Maher got in a bit of quality experience by taking part in the open under 10 race where they finished 15th and 16th respectively. Roisin Burns had an excellent run to finish 12th in the under 12s race and be first scorer on the silver placed county team. Luke Browne in the boys under 12 had a bad start but made up a lot of ground to finish 48th and help the county team into 3rd place. In the boys under 14 the county team were 5th with Ruairi McEvoy coming 51st. Joe Kerins, on his debut in Leinster, finished 45th in the under 16 race where the county team was 4th.
