Despite heavy prolonged rain there were a number of excellent results from our athletes at this years National B Championships held in Tullamore today. What a joy to see Ellen Cormack on the podium being presented with the gold medal for first place in the U15 800m final – a race she ran in 2.28.01. Also in U15 was Eoghan O’Farrell who won his 100m heat in 13.05 and proceeded to win third place in the final in 13.26.
In U16 Charlie Lyons had a fine performance. Placing 3rd in the 100m heat in 12.50 he was unlucky with fourth in the final in the improved time of 12.35.
Our under 12s had three in action. Mealla Crowley ran 2.10.17 for her 600m heat. Ella O’Flaherty had 2.01.46 for her 600m heat. Ellen Ryan ran the 60m and was third in her heat in 9.44.
The under 13s had Caoimhe Kelly covering the 600m in 2.13.50 while Willow O’Neill Maher brought home a bronze with a throw of 6.89 in the Shot.
Two girls ran the U14 800m. Amelia O’Brien was 4th in her heat in 2.34.07 while Katie Byrne was second in her heat in 2.30.89 to finish in 5th place overall.
