A wet day in Tullamore – A new tent for some shelter – great turnout – fantastic performances. It was a busy day for all involved- athletes, coaches and parents. The under twelves were out in force – over twenty competing. Top result came to Jasmine Timmons McEneaney who won silver in the 60m sprint in 8.86 seconds. Caoimhe Quinn also made the final and finished 7th in 9.26. Amelia O’Brien exited at semi-final stage with a PB of 9.30. Ria Quinn also had a notable performance clearing 1.20 in the high jump to place 6th. The boys were also to the fore with Danny Greene, Kevin Comerford and Daithi Egan reaching the semi-finals. Their respective PB times were 9.34, 9.61 and 9.73. Paddy Gibbs cleared 1.15 for 7th place in the high jump. Daire O’Flaherty was 9th in the 600m final (1.56.56).

The under 13s also impressed with Thomas Hayes setting the tone. Competing in three events he won silver in the high jump (1.35), was 6th in 80m (11.70)and 7th Shot(6.31). Patrick Wall had PB of 11.81 in 80m. John Bradley’s best event was the high jump where he placed 10th (1.15).Shay Molloy also did well – 5th in Shot(6.92) and 6th in high jump (1.30).Sinead Cormack had a PB of 1.58.92 in the 600m and was 4th in high jump (1.25). Ellen Cormack’s time for the 600m was 2.01.87 and 1.10 in high jump. Emily Long’s time for the 80m was 11.83. 

The under 9s, 10s and 11s competed in the Leinster Pairs. There were a number of fine individual performances – U9 Daniel McIntyre 1.00.88 for the 300m; U10 Julia Daly 10.14 for the 60m; U11 Aoibhinn Kelly 9.12 for 60m, Darragh O’Callaghan 1.53.12 for the 600m. Medals were won in Long Jump, Turbo Javelin, 60m and 500m. 

Pairs through to Nationals – Under 10 – 1st in 500m (Kate Kelly & Julia Daly); 1st in Long Jump (Ella O’Flaherty & Mealla Crowley). Under 11 – 1st in 60m (Aoibhinn Kelly & Vivienne Lepeskaite), 3rd in 60m (Darragh O’Callaghan & Marcus Lyons), 3rd in turbo Javelin.
