The final day of the county championships, confined mostly to adults, was held on the track tonight. And KCH had a good turnout with four ladies and eight men getting in the medals. While bigger numbers would be better the willingness of those who came to compete in numerous events balanced the outcome. Kate Millea deserved a rest day on Saturday – 1st in Senior wals, 200m, 100m and long jump and 3rd in 3000 o/30. Joan Martin had 1st in 300 o/30, 100 o/35, 2nd in long jum o/40 and 2nd in 200 o/45. Joya burns was 1st in 100o/35, 2nd in senior long jump and 3rd in 200 o/45. Eileen Morgan was 2nd in senior walk, 3rd in Novice 100 and 2nd in 3000. The ladies also won 4×100 and 4×400 relays.
Graham Bourne was a most active athlete medalling in six events 3000, 200,shot, 110 hurdles, 100 and long jump. James Ledingham retained the 3000m crown. Paul Phelan was an active o/50 – 1st in 100, 200, long jump and 2nd in shot. Other resulrs were Padraig Ruane 2nd 200, 3rd 3000; Paddy Walsh3/senior 200; Declan Walsh 3/200 – o/45; Sean OhArgain 1st in 100 & 200 -o/55 and Andy Hamrahan 3rd in long jump -o/45.
