Our athletes gave a good account of themselves at the national senior indoor championships at the NIA in Dublin this weekend. Cliodhna Manning had three competitive races as she pursued success in the 400m. On Saturday she won her heat in 55.37. Later in the day she placed second in the semi-final in 54.02. Sunday’s final brought her an indoor PB of 53.87 as she finished in 4th place.
Pia Langton and Cathal O’Reilly had their 800m semi-finals on Saturday. Both placed first in their respective races in 2.12.37 and 1.53.13 respectively. In Sunday’s final Pia hugging the inside of the track pursued the leaders relentlessly and finished a close third in 2.08.82. Cathal found himself towards the end of the group at the halfway stage and coming wide in the final 100m he made up ground to finish 5th in 1.52.61.
Our fourth athlete competing in the nationals was Jamie Gahan. Running in the 3000m he did well clocking 8.43.54.
