Club achievements in today's "Irish Milers club" were Cathal O'Reilly 4.07.64 for the Mile, Eoin Everard 4.10.6 in the mile, Jack Manning 49.55 for 400; Cliodhna Manning 54.33 for 400 and Hannah Kehoe 4.29.30 in the 1500.
Juveniles from the club descended en masse on Tullamore today for the Inter Club Relays. With twenty-three teams in action it was a busy day for coaches and officials as well as the athletes. The hard work put in over the season brought amazing results as nineteen of the twenty-three teams qualified for the finals. And that wasn't the end as eleven of those teams brought home Leinster medals - 4 Gold, 3 Silver, 4 Bronze. Twenty plus club members took part in this year's mile marker. James Ledingham was first home in the five mile (26.48) and Padraig Ruane placed second (29.06). Paddy Kelly was first juvenile (30.40). In the ten mile event Brian Maher continued on his winning ways crossing the line in 5613. Paul Moran placed fifth (1.02.53). Full results on Popupraces.
Paul Moran was first home in this year's Tullaroan marathon in 3.12.55. Oonagh Guilfoyle and Emily Maher ran the 10k and finishing together they clocked 55.35.
A very enjoyable athletics day for our young athletes in Tullamore today for the Leinster Multievents. Noah Gilmore competed in Junior Penthatlon and won gold with 2,564 points. Six of our under 13s, two girls and four boys, competed in the Tri event - Long Jump, Shot and 200m. Alicja Swanski placed fifth on 1056 points which was helped by a long jump clearance of 4.04m. Jasmine Timmons McEneaney was fourth. Her best event was the 200m which she ran in 28.73. Our boys, Daithi Egan, Killian Croke, Fiach Crowley and Daire O'Flaherty, finished 7th, 8th, 11th and 12th respectively. [...]
There was golden sun in Tullamore for the U12s and U13s Leinster championships today. And a golden medal for Aoibhin Kelly in the final of the U12 60m (8.84). Conor Knox won silver in the shot(8.87) and placed 9th in the high jump. Others staring for our U12s were Emma Millea in 600m, Marcus Lyons in 60m and Vivienne Lepeskaite in 60m. For the Under 13s Jasmine Timmons McEneaney with 11.05 in the 80m final took the gold. Killian Croke also won gold in his main event the 600m (1.41.72). He was 5th in the 60m. The younger athletes had their Leinster track and field outing to Tullamore today for the Leinster Pairs. Among the results were the following:- Under 9 Jayne Byrne and Isabelle Hoyne placed 5th in the 300m (2.03.09) and 4th in long jump (5.83), Ethan Maher and Kenny Lowry 4th in long jump (4.92)Aed Norry and Kenny Lowry 5th in 60m (21.00), Aed Norry and James Healy 3rd in Turbo Javelin (19.87). Aoibhe Richardson was a member of the Irish team which placed 7th in the Europa 10,000m Cup. Aoibhe ran well to finish in a seasons best time of 33.49.
The All-Ireland Schools track and field finals were held in Tullamore today. KCH athletes from the local schools had many successes. Loreto had the greater number involved. Kate Maher won bronze in Junior 200 (25.93); In Intermediate Pia Langton won the 800m (2.12); Fiona Daly won the 300m hurdles (43.51); In Senior Hannah Kehoe won the 1500m (4.34.16); Christian Capitan Martin was 8th in Intermediate 3000m and Amelia Foley placed 10th in senior Long jump. Tulsa athletes, including KCH man Shay McEvoy, were in action at the NCAA West Regionals in Sacramento, California, over the last couple of days. Shay represented his college, Tulsa, in the 5000. Finishing in 21st place with a time of 13.49.01 he will not qualify for the nationals in June.
