This was a busy weekend for the club with big numbers taking part in the Leinster Indoors in Athlone. Athletes competed in walks, 60 and 200 sprints, 400, 800 and 1500, shot, long jump and high jump. The athletes had good parental support with a number volunteering for officiating at various events, thereby allowing team managers to organise the athletes.
Saturday produced a large number of PBs and a considerable number of medals. The story on Sunday was similar. Among the medals winners were:-
Under 12 Daniel McIntyre 2nd high jump (1.25).
Under 13 Isabella Quaglia silver in shot; Caelan Bambrick bronze in shot, Jacob Briers bronze in 60 hurdles.
Under 14 Conor Knox gold in high jump, long jump and shot.
Under 15 Mollie Rose Keegan 3/60m (8.15);Jasmine Timmons McEneaney 2/60m (8.06);Fiach Crowley 3rd 60 hurdles and Killian Croke 3rd in 800m.
Under 16 Patrick Wall 2/400(56.71), 3rd in 60 hurdles; Eoghan O’Farrell 2nd 200; Aisling Phelan 1/60, 2nd in 200 (7.89); Ellen Daly 2nd 60 hurdles, 3rd 200m; Sinead Cormack 1/1500 (4.48.74); Kara Canavan 3rd 800.
Under 17 Kate Maher 1st 200.
Under 18 Aoibhe Quinn 3/60m(8.31); Clodagh O’Callaghan 2nd 800; Cormac Holden 2nd long jump.
Under 19 Tom Murphy 3/1500 (4.11.14); Cillian Daly 2nd 400.
There were 4th place finishes for Teagin Mtinsi U13 shot; Simon Brennan U13 60 hurdles; Sam Woodcock U14 800m; Fiach Crowley U15 long jump; U16 Eoghan O’Farrell 60m, Danny Dirreen 60 hurdles; U18 Cormac Holden 800; U19 Tom Murphy 800, James Bergin 400 and Cillian Daly 200.
All above plus U17 Conor Malone high jump and U19 Ella Wall high jump are qualified to participate in the upcoming national indoors.
There were 5th place finishes for U12 Daniel McIntyre Shot; U13 Julia Daly 60 hurdles, Kate Kelly 600, Charlie Donohoe 600, Jacob Briers shot, Dylan Gee 600; U15 Kelly Charters high jump, Ella Sorohan shot, Jack O’Neill shot; U16 Danny Dirreen 200, Ellen Cormack 800 and U19 Ella Wall 400.
