The All-Ireland Schools track and field championships were held in Tullamore. A number of KCH athletes represented their schools with distinction. Borris College had outstanding athletes in Daniel Greene and Thomas Murphy. Daniel took first place in the Minor 800 (2.7.00) while it was also gold for Thomas in the Senior 2000m steeplechase (6.09.35). Victor Lamph, Intermediate, starred for Clongowes with silver in 400 hurdles (58.00) and bronze in 400 (50.20).
Loreto had three athletes competing – Ella Sorohan produced a fine run to win the Junior 200m (25.61). Clodagh O’Callaghan placed 4th in Senior 1500m (4.41.69) and Amelia O’Brien ran the U16 mile in 5.17.95). For Kyrell Mtinsi, St Kierans, it was 6th place in Intermediate 800m (1.59.36).
