The 2020 American Athletic Conference cross-country, deferred from October 2020 because of Covid 19, was held today at 4 Mile Creek Resort, Augusta, Kansas. Tulsa Hurricanes, with two KCH – Peter Lynch and Shay McEvoy – on the men’s team took gold in a convincing manner with six runners in the top ten finishers – their 7th successive title. And our two were in that number. Peter placed 4th (same as in 2019) in 23.58.7 and Shay was 10th in 24.43.4. Two outstanding performances in a very competitive race amid a fall of snow. Despite the efforts of last ear’s winner, Aaron Bienenfeld, Cincinati, Tulsa had first and second individuals to leave Bienenfeld in bronze position. Shay McEvoy, on his first season with Tulsa, will be happy tonight as he journeys home with Freshman of the Year Award. To complete the picture the Hurricanes Ladies also won team gold.
