Extremes of weather – from sunburst to thunderblast – greeted athletes and all at the Leinster  juvenile track and field  championships in Tullamore. Medals, PBs and Championship Records were achieved. Apart from the new records the athletes returned 26 individual medals – 12 gold, 7 silver and 7 bronze.

Under 12s – Conor Knox added a bronze in the Turbo Javelin to add to earlier success in the shot. Aoibhinn Kelly and Marcus Lyons  jumped well and finished 9th in their respective long jumps.

Under 13s -On their second weekend of competition there were more good results. Fiach Crowley won gold in the long jump and added a 4th place in 60m hurdles. Other long jump results were Daithi Egan 4th, Jasmine Timmons McEneaney  6th, Alicja Slawinska with a fine PB of 4.40 won bronze, and Mollie rose Keegan was 14th. Mollie Rose also made 4th place in the final of the 60m hurdles. Other long jump participants were Lucy Maher, Lola long, Ruadhan McGuinness and Daniel Devine. The latter also did well in the javelin. There were excellent performances by Lucy Maher and Lola Long in the 60m hurdles.

Under 14s – There were some star performances with this group. None better than Ellen Daly with double gold – 200m and 60m hurdles. Sinead Cormack also did well winning the 1500 and placing 4th in the 800m. Kara Canavan had a good PB in the 800m. Hannah Devine 7th in 400. Two busy girls were Ellen Cormack (7th in High Jump, 800m and 1500m) and Emily Long (high jump, 80m and 60m hurdles). Emma Roche and Emily Long competed in the 80m sprints and Emily cleared 1.25 in the high jump.

Under 15s – Kate Maher was the star here with double gold -100m and 200m. Martha Bergin  had bronze in 20m and placed 7th in 100m. Kyrell Mtinsi won silver in the 800m and was 5th in long jump. Joshua Malone was 6th in 200m and 14th in long jump. In the Inter county relay KCH had three on the team – Martha Bergin, Kate Maher and Ellen Daly – which won gold.

Under 16s -Aoife Quinn qualified for the nationals with 4th place in 100m and 200m. Molly Daly claimed gold in the 200m and Clodagh O’Callaghan won silver in the 800m. Other good results had Cathal Rossiter 5th in 400 and 9th in long jump. Evelyn McEvoy was 5th in 3000m and had a good workout in the 1500m as did Eimear Cormack.

Under 17s – Pia Langton starred for the under 17s with gold and CBP in the 800 (2.13.51) and silver in the 400m. Louis Raggett also won silver in long jump and Killian Daly won bronze in the 400m. Killian Redmond had APB in his 200m. ella Wall was 7th in 400m and long jump and 4th in high jump. Grace Delahunty and Hannah Quinn were 6th and 8th respectively in the 100m final. KCH girls Grace Delahunty, Hannah Quinn, Aoibhe Quinn and Ella Wall representedthe county in the relay and were rewarded with silver medals.

Undere18s – While there were star performances across all the groups the Prince of stars was Alex Cullen with triple gold – 400, long jump and 400m hurdles. Adam Slawinski had gold and silver  -gold in 200m and silver in 100m. Blaithin Holden in addition to silver  in 100m hurdles was 4th in 400m hurdles and 7th in 400m. Paddy Kelly won bronze in the steeplechase and Ruairi McEvoy won bronze in 1500m. William Nugent made it to the nationals with 4th in the 200m.

Under 19s – Just two girls competed for the club . Isabelle Burke was third in the 3000m and Amilie Foley won silver in 200m, was 4th in long jump and clocked 13.24 for the 100m.
