A large number of athletes went to the start line for this year’s senior (including Masters and U23) national 10k track event in the Morton Stadium today (Saturday). Among them were two of KCH finest distance runners Brian Maher and Eoin Everard. When the field broke up both were in the leading group of 12. Mick Clohessey, Raheny Shamrocks led them out until John Travers, Donore, took the lead. Our two athletes were still with the lead group although Brian was a bit adrift. Then as Sean Tobin headed for home he split up the entire lead group. Brian and Eoin were lapping runners and while they weren’t going to make the podium they were serious contenders. Brian crossed the line in 9th plce in 30.34.05 thereby setting a new O/40 Record time for the event. Eoin was 10th in 30.37.20. Well done men. A very memorable race. On Sunday (30th) Jack Manning went in the 200m where he clocked 22.14 a little off his PB of 21.99.
