The inaugural Abbott Festival of Running supporting Cois Nore and KCH took place on Saturday with many club members running and officiating in various capacities. In the 5K event Eoin Everard took the winning spot in 15.34. Juveniles Dylan Guilfoyle and Eric Murphy were 3rd and 4th respectively in 19.30 and 19.32. Other finishers were Wm Cuddihy, Andrew O’Carroll, Conor MacGabhann, Emer O’Shaughnessy and Statia O’Carroll.
There were many prize winners in the 10K – 1st William Fox (33.25), 2nd Brian Maher (33.26). 1st O/40 -Oonagh Guilfoyle; 1st O/55 Sean Delaney and Geraldine Grogan; 1st O/60 Mike O’Shaughnessy; 2nd O/40 Mags Clancy; 2nd O/55 Rhoda Griffith. Included among the other finishers were – James Murphy, Cormac Goulding, Trevor Charters, Eamon Boland, Jan Hazenberg, Aisling Gannon, Billy Culleton, Aoife McGowan, Bridger Rochfort, Brian West, Aisling Burns, Patricia Cody, Declan Bryan and Bernard Gannon. In the Streets of Thurles 5K Orla McPhillips had a PB of 18.23. Colm O’Shea and Mary Morrissey had 20.59 and 30.07 respectively.
