The Novice cross-country championships were held in The Castle Park today. After many changed decisions our ladies fielded two teams -one in Grade A and one in Grade B- for the Novice cross country championships in the Castle Park today. And they did more than field teams. They competed and competed successfully. The “A” squad – Claire Dermody 2nd, Cathy Millett 3rd, Anita Byrne 6th – finished in first place. The “B” squad with mostly  very novice runners won silver. Team members were Aisling Gannon 13th, Fiona Phelan 17th and Joanne O’Dwyer 18th.

The men were also out with good numbers and managed to field teams in both divisions.   The A team had 2018 Novice Road Champion, Graham Bourne, finish in 4th place. With Oisin MacCinneide 13th, Conor Darcy 14th and Kieran Hughes 15th they took the bronze medals. The B team went a step further to win silver. Team members were Tony Lauhoff 17th, Alan Mahon 18th, Pierce Cooney 22nd, Paul Phelan 25th and Sam Kirby 29th.
