The fog in Tullaroan today dominated proceedings at the Juvenile Relays and Intermediate Championships. But it didn’t take from the enjoyment experienced by our young athletes. A lot of the credit goes to Noel Maher who was out early and had the tent insitu to welcome the arrivals. The tent provided a mini-creche for babies in buggies as the mammies competed in the Intermediate race.  And there were many in the young age groups – four teams in some of the relays. First off was the open under 8 where some athletes had their first cross country experience and wore their medals with pride for the rest of the day. The under 10’s performed well with Robert Cullen leading his team to bronze. From then on it was gold all the way for the under 12s and under 14s. The Intermediate Ladies also won gold with Caitriona Muldowney and Caoimhe Foley taking the number 1 and number 2 slots in fine fashion. Mossie Roantree was also impressive for the Intermediate Men. Mossie led the field for a time but had to yield to the stronger Dean Rowe from Gowran. Mossie finished a close second.
