The arrival of snow and ice caused a delay to the start of 2025 competition. However with the thaw having set in all events including training are now up and running –
On the road four athletes ran the Donadea half marathon – David Devine (1.46.35), Laura Andrews (1.53.38), Paula Hynes (1.57.14) and Emma Kennedy (2.02.18).
The National Indoor combined events were held in the Abbottstown Arena. U14 athlete, Conor Knox, had a fine competition. A massive 622 points acquired in the Shot helped him to the bronze medal with a points total of 2007. With the competition doubling for the Leinster Indoor championship Conor won silver. Fiach Crowley competed in the U15 event and placed 8th on 1339 points but this enabled him to claim a Leinster Silver.
Noah Gilmore competed in the Senior taking part in six of the seven events over the two days. An ankle injury in the pole vault meant he had to withdraw from the 1000m – the final event. 3050 points from the six events saw him finish in 5th place.
Jamie Gahan ran a very good 3000 to win bronze in the senior event in 8.51.71. Kate Maher making her senior indoor debut clocked 26.14 in the 200m.
Ger Forde left a starting line in excess of 400 behind him as he coasted to victory in the Tom Walsh 10km road race at Caherconlish, Co Limerick. His time was 31.13.
