Another busy weekend for our young athletes. It started with the County Walks on Friday evening where Cillian Maher continued his race walk development with first place in the U14 Walk.
RELAYS
Saturday then it was on to Carlow for the Leinster Relays. The younger age groups had multiple teams and faced serious competition from across the province. The club had fewer podium appearances than had been the norm in the past. However with the younger ones coming along the future looks good. Today there was just one gold and four silver – U16 girls gold; U11 girls, U13 boys and U17 girls silver. The U11 boys looked good for medals but suffered a DQ in the final.
Relay Results:-Girls – U9 6th; U10 9th, 14th and 17th; U11 2nd (Molly Costelloe, Mayar Elfaedy, Amenze Victor, Ava Ledingham); U12 8th, 13th and 15th; U13 7th; U14 7th; U15 No team; U16 1st (Jasmine Timmons McEneaney, Ella Sorohan, Kelly Charters, Mia Brennan, Mollierose Keegan); U17 2nd (Ellen Daly, Zoe Beck, J T McEneaney, Mia Brennan, Ella Sorohan, Kelly Charters.
Boys – U9 9th; U10 11th, 12th and 15th; U11 3rd (DQ) and 10th; U12 12t; U13 2nd (Zachery Marc, Daniel Quinn, Conor Laurence Delaney, Daniel McIntyre) and 11th; U14 No team; U15 No team; U16 No team.
COMBINED EVENTS
Combined Events were also in Carlow and with four club members competing they excelled – three won silver and one placed fourth. All four competed in the Pentathlon – hurdles, high jump, shot, long jump and distance.
Results U13 – Daniel McIntyre, 2nd ( 1361 points); Conor Laurence Delaney 4th (1247 points). U16 – Kelly Charters 2nd (2398 p0ints); U18 Zoe Beck 2nd (2171 points).
