It was a busy weekend for indoor athletics. On the home front we had the National Masters on Saturday and the under 20 & under 23 on Sunday while all the time we were tuned to Appledoorn, Netherlands for the European Indoors.

Graham Bourne excelled once again in the M45 category with gold in the 60m hurdles (12.71), silver in Pole Vault (2.00) and bronze in triple jump (8.30). Padraig had a great performance to win silver in 3000m M35 (9.44.07). Noel Murphy topped of the day with gold in M65 400 (1.10.24).

Sunday in Athlone we had four athletes competing – three U20 and one U23. U20 Alex Cullen won bronze in 400m (48.32). Kate Maher finished 8th in 200m with a PB of 25.19. Blaithin Holden did the 400m in 1.08.07. Hannah Kehoe had a fine run in the U23 1500m to win silver in 4.34.00.

Sunday finished up with excitement from the Europeans when Team Ireland collected three medals in the space of 40 minutes. Cliodhna Manning was part of the Irish 4×400 relay which even though stripped of the Paris Olympians gave a good account of themselves.
