The club juveniles were busy today. Two athletes involved in Leinster Indoor High Jump – Alex Cullen won gold under 17 with 1.70. Mateusz Balcer with a similar height won silver under 19.
And then the relays. Our under 12s, taking part in their first Leinster Indoor relay competition were in great form. The girls A team won gold in 2.05.38 and the B team were 3rd in their heat in 2.17.37. The boys were out in force with three teams. Team C were 5th in their heat, team B were second in their heat and unlucky not to make the final. Team A won their heat in 2.07.06 and won bronze in the final in an improved time of 2.06.73.
The under 13 girls had two teams. Team B were second in heat 3 but time of 2.09.18 didn’t get them to the final. Team A won their heat and won silver in the final with 2.01.27. The boys qualified for the final in 2.01.65 but a slower time in the final saw them finish in 6th place.
Our U14 girls won both heat and final clocking 1.52.66 in the latter.
The under 15s – boys and girls – came home with medals. Silver was the colour for the girls -our fastest team of the day with 1.48.82 in the final. The boys took bronze in 2.01.60.
The under 16 girls, having placed second in their heat, won bronze in the finalwith a time of 1.55.03.
While the relays were taking place in the comfort of the Athlone Indoor Arena many juveniles made the trip to Mallusk, Belfast for the schools cross country final. KCH had a number involved. The minor girls from the Presentation won team gold led home by Clodagh O’Callaghan in a highly commendable 7th place. Eimear Cormack was second scorer on the Presentation Junior team. The Senior girls team from Loreto won team bronze with five KCH girls on the panel. Maebh Richardson in 16th place was second scorer for the team. Isabella Burke was third scorer. Albertin Molinera, Eleanor Godden and Pia O’Grady completed the panel.
