It’s county championship time again and the weather is favourable so we had a fine turnout for Day 1 in Scanlon Park. Quite a number of first timers trying out their fitness and skills and of course the “experienced ” ones are hoping to improve on earlier years performances. Among the latter are Conor Knox and Jack O’Neill. Both had an excellent 2024 and they seem set for a repeat in 2025.  Both collected three individual golds – Conor in U14 80m, Hammer and High Jump – Jack in U15 Shot, Discus and Hammer. A number of athletes had multiple medals going home when individual and relays are taken into account – Indeed there were some with “multiples” without the relays. Among the adults Graham Bourne, a multi-performer in 2024 is on the same route again with four gold and three silver.
