Our athletes had a long journey this weekend with a four hour journey to Fermanagh for the even age national cross country.
First away were the under 12 girls. Kate Kelly led her team home in 11th place to win All-Ireland bronze. Scoring on the Leinster team she also won gold. The club finished in eight place with Kate, Casey Cleere 71, Meabh O’Shea 107 and Ella Flaherty 114. These four also scored on the county team which placed 8th. Mealla Crowley and Grace O’Shea provided good backup support.
The under 14 boys had Daniel Greene and Aidan Malone in action. Good running brought Daniel to 8th to secure an All-Ireland medal. Aidan did well to finish 154th.
Under 16 we had Sinead Cormack finishing 16th and winning silver with the Leinster team. Kyrell Mtinsi 31st and Conor Malone 127th represented us in the boys race. Kyrell was the first home for the county team which finished in 6th place.
Tom Murphy 55th was our sole representative in Boys U18. The girls fielded a team and placed 9th. Scorers were Pia Langton 14th, Clodahg O’Callaghan 48th, Hazel Coogan 59th, Eimear Cormack 110th and Evelyn McEvoy 117th. All five were also involved in the junior race scoring 23rd, 68th, 88th, 153rd and 160th respectively. They also had Isabella Burke in 41st, and Orla Looney in 74th. Good team work paid off with the team winning bronze.
Cathal O’Reilly with third place U23 qualifies for the Eurocross. Cathal also placed 8th in the senior race. In the ladies U23 Hannah Kehoe was 11th. The placings in the senior ladies were Hannah Kehoe 31st, Annie McEvoy 77th and Caoilfhionn Ni Argain 87th.
