Tulsa Hurricanes backboned by four Irish athletes (including the KCH duo, Peter Lynch and Shay McEvoy) travelled to Tallahassee, Florida for today’s national cross country finals. Ranked 10th the team were determined to go a bit better. The weather was hot and the course relatively flat resulting in a fast race. The Tulsa team members seemed to get boxed in the early stages. Peter was in 100th position at the 2K mark but with his usual persistance he worked his way kilometer by kilometer to place 42nd at the finish in the excellent time of 29.32 and second scorer on the team. Mullingar man Cormac Dalton in 34th led the team to an overall sixth place – their second successive sixth place. Shay McEvoy had one of those days where things don’t go right and finished a somewhat disappointing 148th. This he will remedy over the next few years.
