A lot of running by club members this weekend – some at home – some further afield. First up is a fab run by Claire Dermody who ran the marathon in Chicago in 3.08.12 – a fine time indeed.
Then it was the turn of the “students” in the states. On Friday Shay McEvoy placed 14th in the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational. Running for Tulsa University he covered the 8K cross country race in 23.26. Then on Saturday Peter Lynch ran in the Weis-Crockett Invitational in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The distance was 8K and in a large field Peter placed third in 23.37.
Friday night it was the O/40s cross country in Thomastown. Kate Millea, flying the flag for the ladies took 2nd place. Graham Bourne did likewise for the men. John Maye in 14th and Paul Larkins in 18th KCH made third club.
Then it was off to Amsterdam for the marathon. Some great running brought great results. Andy Hanrahan 3.19.25, Michael Grogan 3.12.55 PB, Diarmuid Cullen 2.48.54 PB, Ken Maher 2.50.59, Pat Purcell 3.06.51, Patrick Walsh 3.01.55, Caoimhe Sheeran 3.13.18, Anita Byrne 3.15.00 PB, Ciaran Hughes 3.12.18, Andrew Smyth 3.05.35.
And then it was back to Dublin for the Open cross-country. Brian Maher took first place in vets (23.56) and Jamie Gahan 3rd (24.06). in the senior race Eoin Everard was 14th (23.22) with Ger Forde in 16th (23.22). The juniors also impressed – Cathal O’Reilly 3rd (18.32) and Billy Coogan 8th (19.03).
The juvenile cross-country relays were all 4×500. There were huge fields in all the races. KCH had boys and girls teams in under 11 and under 13. relays. U11 girls – Ella O’Flaherty, Ellen Ryan, Hannah O’Brien, Kate Kelly were 17th. U11 Boys – Conor Knox, Donnacha Burns, Tommy, Darragh O’Callaghan were 13th. Girls U13 – Emma Kelly, Mollierose Keegan, Jasmine Timmons McEneaney, Amelia O’Brien, Sub Alicja Slawinska were 12th. U13 Boys – Danny, Fiach Crowley, Patrick Wall, Daire O’Flaherty were 10th. Keeping in mind that most of these athletes, competing in their first national competition, are still young enough to run in these ages again next year – the future is bright.
PINK RUN
