The Orange weather forecast for the South East led to the cancellation of Sunday’s first round of the County Kilkenny cross country championships in Ballycurran. However there was plenty of action on the roads – both near and far.
On Saturday Mossy Roantree took first place in the Ballycallan 10K in 36.18.
On Sunday at the Naas 5k Gretta Beckett was 4th female and first over 40 in 23.23. Further up the road in Rathfarnham Padraig Ruane did the 5K in 16.20 and Paul Bolger and Rory Lehane had PBs of 16.45 and 18.23 respectively.
Over in Germany we had eight athletes taking part in the Berlin Marathon with six of them clocking PBs – Denis Vasiljevs 2.52.5, Jacinta Mulroe 3.01.25, Claire Dermody 3.02.33, Anita Byrne 3.08.55, Lisa Brennan 3.10.17, Noel Sugrue 3.23.08. Good runs also by Andy Hanrahan 3.13.34 and Rita McGarvey 3.56.09.
Meanwhile in the Ulm marathon Jan Hazenburg put in a good run to finish in 4.16.
