Day 2 of theLeinster Indoors in Athlone was medalwise a little more successful than Day 1 bringing the medal count so far to eleven - 3 gold, 6 silver and 3 bronze. In addition there were six 4th place finishes with the result that we will have considerable representation in the nationals. While overall results were satisfactory there was a disappointment for one of our under 12 athletes. Kate Maher took a fall in the 60m on Saturday but recovered to finish the race. It was very much sprints and long jumps for our athletes on the opening day of the Leinster Indoor championships in Athlone today. Emma Hogan showed well for the u12 girls. In a very competitive 60m event she had her best performance with 9.36 in the semi-final. Charlie Lyons made the semis but his time of 9.47 didn't get him to the final. Mathias Quaglia did make the final and running 8.55 he won bronze. The 60m under 13 proved an exciting one for the girls with both Ruth Crowley and Molly Daly qualifying fotr the final. Feb 01 US Students in Indoor Action

Peter Lynch (Tulsa University) and Aoibhe Richardson (San Francisco ) got their Indoor seasons under way with good runs in their respective 3000m races. Peter clocked 8.08 when coming 2nd in Indiana while Aoibhe had a respectable 9.25 in Seattle.
