KCH hosted today's Parkrun in the Castle Park. Thanks to Nicholas Dunphy, PRO, who erected the club tent there was shelter for the officials from a very cooling breeze at the top of the hill. Brian Maher spoke to the gathering expounding the merits of the Streets of Kilkenny. It was fitting that the first home was club member Trust Mtinsi. A number of club juveniles handed out fliers to promote the race. Thanks to Graham Bourne for getting the club involved and taking on the role of Race Director for the day.

Mar 31 On The Road in Dunboyne

Eoin Everard and Brian Maher made the trip to Dunboyne today for the annual 10Km Road Race. The trip was worthwhile as Eoin placed second in 30.12 and Brian was a close third in 30.13. Meanwhile Toss Hayes was in The Netherlands for a half marathon. A good run saw him complete the race in 1.05.45. Well done Men.

It was a busy weekend at the All-Ireland Juvenile Indoors in the Athlone Arena. It was an eventful weekend for under 12 athlete Molly Daly. Running in her first Indoor All-Ireland she finished 4th in the 60m (8.85) on Saturday and showed great class to take the gold in the 600m on Sunday. Also going in the 60m was Oisin Henderson who had an excellent time of 8.76 for the event. Alex Cullen (U14) competing in three events was a busy athlete. Peter Lynch continued his running development at the Mike Fanelli Classic in San Francisco today. Representing the Tulsa University in the 5K he finished secondin his race in a new PB time of 14.18.

Mar 24 Many Make Mallow 10 Mile

Approximately twenty club members travelled to Mallow today to competein the 10 mile road race. Pat Purcell was first of the men home in a little over one minute while Clare Dermody was the first of the ladies. Among those who finished the race were Maired Lacey, Oonagh Guilfoyle, Anita Byrne, Joya Burns, Roisin O'Dwyer, Jackie Varley, Geraldine Grogan, Dympna Kelly, Catherine Ryan, Conor Darcy, Conor Bolger, Ciaran Hughes, Noel Maher, Mervyn Doyle, Paul Phelan, Declan Walshe and Michael Grogan.

The Schools International cross-country was held in Santry today. Tom Lodge was part of the Junior Irish team. Running his usual strong race he placed fifth on the Irish team(22nd overall). With the the team coming third Tom got his first international medal.

Mar 09 CC Medals for Loreto and St Kierans

There were some excellent individual performances by our club members at the Schools CC Finals in Clongowes. Tops were Tom Lodge, third in Junior Boys and Shay McEvoy, fourth in Senior Boys. In the teams Loreto were tops with the Intermediate girls taking first place, helped by Eleanor Godden and Abby gilsenan. St Kierans had teams in third place in Minor, Junior and Senior. Harry Boyle, Kealin Gray and Sean Young were involved with the minors. Joey Dalton and Joe Kearns, along with Tom Lodge were Junior runners. It was a night of celebrations in the Set Theatre at Langon's as the young and not so young from the club came together to acknowledge the achievements of our athletes during 2018. Vice Chairman Brian Leahy welcomed everyone to the Set, congratulated all the athletes and thanked the coaches and club officials for their dedication throughout the year. It was a long day at the Leinster Indoors today. It was a 7.30am start but with a full bus heading for Abbottstown the mood was high. Coming home was another story. The snow delayed everyone and with the lunches long since eaten hunger pangs dulled the enjoyment of success on the track. And success there was. Feb 22/23 PBs for US Students

This was National Conference Indoor weekend in the USA. Our two scholarship students excelled. Peter Lynch, Tulsa University, competed on both days in Bermingham, Alabama. He ran in the 5000 0n Friday and the 3000 on Saturday with PBs in both - 14.35.12 for the 5K and 8.27.84 for the 3K. Aoibhe Richardson, Portland, was in action in the 3000 in Seattle. Her time of 9.21 was also a PB. Congrats to both.
