2019 Results

The fog in Tullaroan today dominated proceedings at the Juvenile Relays and Intermediate Championships. But it didn't take from the enjoyment experienced by our young athletes. A lot of the credit goes to Noel Maher who was out early and had the tent insitu to welcome the arrivals. The tent provided a mini-creche for babies in buggies as the mammies competed in the Intermediate race.  And there were many in the young age groups - four teams in some of the relays. The National Senior Indoors were held in Abbottstown this weekend. KCH had five athletes involved in the competition. Eoin Everard, having comfortably qualified in Saturday's semi-final, was set for Sunday's final. A hitch with the lap counter left him with a major difficulty going into the final lap. Finishing strongly in 3.55.79 he placed second. Greater attention to the lap counter might have seen him closer to the 3.48.58 he posted at the Athlone International on Wednesday. It was Valentine's Day in Armagh ( and everyplace else) today but it wasn't quite St Valentine that was on the minds of those lining u Well done men.p for the 5 mile international road race. Among those on the start line were KCH duo Brian Maher and Toss Hayes. The crossed the finish line with Brian in 41st place on 14.27 and Toss in 45th on 14.29. 

Eoin Everard was our one representative at the International Indoor T&F event at Athlone IT tonight. Eoin clocked 3.48.58 in the 1500m (4.07.58 for the mile)

Competition on Day 2 of the Leinster Indoors was equally as competitive as yesterdays Day 1. So medalwise coming home with seven medals today was a fine achievement. But it wasn't just the medal winners. There were many many excellent performances which will give both experience and confidence as the season progresses. The hurdles brought four medals with under 12 athlete Ruth Crowley starting the run with a silver. Dany Ring got silver under 14. Peter Lynch marked up another PB at the Gorilla Classic in Pittsburg. Representing Tulsa in the Indoor 3000m he finished in seventh place in 8.29.40.   

Day 1 of theLeinster Indoors at AIT was a busy day with numerous heats in some events. Getting into a sprint final was a major achievement. Top marks then to Molly Daly to win silver in the girls under 12 final. Laura Leahy u12, Grace Delahunty and Hannah Quinn u13, were among those who made it to the semifinals of their respective 60m. Under 15 girls, Orla Kenny and Amelie Foley, and under 16 girls Jennifer Obah and Tara McGuire all qualified for the finals of their sprints. A very successful outing for a large contingent from the club at this year's 10 mile in Dungarvan today. Our ladies led home by Caitriona Muldowney were third of 56 clubs. The men with Trust Mtinsi at the helm were fifth of 67 clubs. Well done all. 

Our athletes had a great day at the AAI Games in Abbottstown today. Certainly it was a great day for Ciara Deely with a first place in the 200m including a PB of 25.09. But that wasn't all. Running the first leg of the 4x400m relay she is now part of that team heading for the European Juniors in Sweden in July. They won the relay in 3.45.27. There were PBs also for Shay McEvoy, James Kearney and Kevin Burns in the 3000m. Their respective times were 8.30.02, 9.08.78 and 9.28.73.
