Barrow Harriers hosted this years open cross-country in Graiguenamanagh today and an excellent job they did too. Our Over 35s were scarce but the men managed a team with John O’Donnell giving a sterling pereformance to finish 4th amid strong competition. Noel Sugrue placed 12th and Paul Larkins completed the scoring in 24th place.
Our juveniles did very well. All the under 8s collected medals – and quality medals at that. The girls had Emma Kelly 1st, Ella O’Flaherty 3rd, Anna O’Brien 4th and Rachel Foley 12th. The boys had Calum Roantree 4th and Cillian fogarty 13th. Our U10 athletes proved worthy competitors. The girls had Emma Kelly 4th, Ava Roantree 5th, Amelie O’Brien 8th, Jenny O’Donnell 10th and Lavinia Fogarty 15th. The boys had Daire O’Flaherty 1st, Oisin Sheridan 6th and Darragh Foley 11th. Teamwise they couldn’t do better as both boys and girls won first team medals.
Our under 12s had to rely on under 11 athletes to represent the club and they did that very well as both teams came home with the bronze third place medals. The girls had Sinead Cormack 5th, Kara Canavan 9th, Ellen Cormack 11th and Maura Barton 26th. For the boys it was Shay Molloy 3rd, Michael Sheridan 13th and Mikey Phelan 17th.
Under 14 failed to field a team. Good running by Eimear Cormack and Roisin Burns saw them finish 8th and 12th respectively. Well done everyone – including the parents for getting the athletes out on this very cold and frosty morning.
