A small group of our athletes had respite from the winter weather in the beautiful indoor arena in Athlone today. But there was no respite from the competition as there were big numbers competing in these national combined events. Each athlete competed in hurdles, high jump, shot, long jump and finally the 800m. A fine days work for any athlete! Alex Cullen had a fine competition but was down the field with just the 800m to go. Giving it everything he made it his best scoring event – 675 points- giving him a total of 2215 and more importantly a national bronze under 15 medal.  This was also a good competition for experienced younger boys – Patrick Lacey and Louie Raggett. Competing in the U14 event they finished 8th and 9th respectively with both having PBs of 1.52 in the high jump and Louie another PB in the Shot – 7.94. Louisa Gilmore and Blaithin Holden competed at under 15 and both had good results – 2116 points for Louisa and 2106 for Blaithin.
