Our Under 12 athletes represented the club in fine style at the Leinster cross-country relays in Dunboyne today. The girls were first away in the 4×250 race. With two teams entered they meant business and didn’t disappoint. Both teams ran well with one collecting the third place medals. The boys were next and again both teams gave an excellent account of themselves with one coming home with the silver medals. Well done all four teams and congratulations also to the parents and the coaches.
The teams:- Girls – A team- Amelia o’Brien, Jasmine Timmons McEneaney, EmmaKelly, Molly Rose Keegan. B team – Hannah Ryan, Ria Wuinn, Alicja Slawinska, Lucy Maher. Boys – A team -Daire O’Flaherty, Emmett Murphy, Peter Quinn, Aidan Malone. Team B – Paddy Gibbs, Fiach Crowley, Daniel Devine, Jason O’Neill.
Paul Moran carried the flag for the club in the Masters. Competing at O/45 level he finished 13th and was third scorer on the County Kilkenny team. Well done Paul.
There were good performances from Eamon O’Connor (16th), Padraig Ruane (27th) and Diarmuid Cullen (31st) in the Leinster Intermediate. The three were the first three finishers on the county team which placed fifth.
Meanwhile across the water Grace Richardson, running in the colours of Belgrave Harriers, finished 8th in the Surrey League in 33.01.
KCH had four athletes doing the half marathon in Donadee. Siobhan McArdle finished in 1.34.50; Declan Walshe in 1.32.20; David devine in 1.36.52 and Brian Keanein 1.46.54.
All in all a busy and successful weekend of running.
